After installing iOS 18 public beta, it looks like my Messages app went from 9.5 GB to I'm guessing almost nothing? Maybe it's in the cloud and hasn't downloaded yet but it's been 24 hours already and it's still about the same.

I did adjust the iCloud setting from 30 days to 1 year. I can also scroll back over a month in a message so it appears everything is still there.

Maybe I'll keep the 11 Pro for another year.

I would definitely hold onto the 11 Pro. I have an iPhone 13 and an iPhone 15, you’re not missing much.

This has been a great phone. The only issue I'm having is I'm basically out of storage. Or I was. I was sitting normally at 60-62 GB used with almost all of my apps offloaded. It wasn't a good experience.

The good thing is the phones after mine haven't been amazing enough to get me to leave. But this storage issues is really starting to get to me.

Yeah, not much you can do about the storage.. had that happen to me once. Can you get away with using a web browser and the associated website for any of the apps you have? If so, that may be another way to save some space until you upgrade.

I'm good for now but it's just frustrating. Having to download pics before sending them. Apps disappearing if I haven't used them in a few weeks. Financially, I'm ok to upgrade to the 16 Pro, looking at least at .5 TB. But I really just love this phone.

Another way to maybe save some space is to make sure you have a iCloud backup, then reset your iPhone 11 to factory settings and restore from your iCloud back up. I did that once and it saved a lot of space.. i’m guessing it got rid of a bunch of temp files or something. If you have been upgrading the OS all of this time, then iOS is probably taking up a ton of space.

The last time I did that I didn't see any savings. It's been a few years. And I backed up to my Mac so maybe it restored all those temp files.

That has worked for me before though so I'm not saying it won't work.

It is kind of a pain, though, so save that as a last effort before you head out to buy a new device. If it doesn’t work for you, no big deal.

I figure I’ll have to get one in a year or so anyway due to iOS updates. Might as well do it now. If the 16 is awesome enough.

Now that I think about it, the iOS update in September would likely run much better on a newer iPhone. You also get a new battery, the Dynamic Island and battery charge limits. I’m running the iOS 18 Public Beta on my iPhone 13 and iPhone 15 and I haven’t seen any issues despite it being an beta release.. so the final release should be amazing.
