I sent it in for whine and a goofy keyboard, and I got it back a week later with the updated logic board. As some have reported, the temp is much lower as well.

All in all, I couldn't be happier with my MBP now. No whine, no heat, it's great.

:)

I went into the Apple store to fix my squeaking hinges, and the genius told me they probably won't fix it. I got it back and it is fixed. AppleCare has never let me down.

Finally. I'll send it in for repair very soon, getting whine, speakers and hopefully heat issue fixed. Here is to hoping :)

Any change in performance or battery life?

None that I've seen so far. I've only been able to use it for about two hours, and it wasn't straight through. I am surprised at the temps tho. When I sent it in, it would idle at about 65°C. Now it's idle at 40°C, and 45°C when encoding a movie.

I'm impressed.

What's a good way of checking the temp.? I have the istat widget, but it's not showing me the temp. How else can I do it?

What I don't get is why my 17" MBP never gets hot, whines, or moos. Is there any site where I can listen to what the wines and moos sound like?
There were some videos on youtube that show both mooing and whining. Some people's is more severe than others, but I could hear mine during class when I was tryign to take notes, and that was just unacceptable.
