Apple a long press of an app icon on the iPhone allows you the option to “turn off notifications for this app“

It drives me crazy how many steps are required to get rid of the visual notification, and of course I have 100 apps. I don’t want to turn it off for all of them, but for many I do and it’s so many steps

I voted Yes.
Even better would be a possibility to long press a notification and then be able to turn off those notifications in the future. I sometimes get notifications from apps I didn’t even know I even had, or the notifications do not show which app they are for, so I cannot turn them off.

And how does one turn off notifications from Screen Time? I don’t want those. Edit: The weekly Screen Time report, I mean. I still want the other notifications.

You can swipe on notifications for an option button (next to clear, don‘t swipe too far or it triggers clear), which allows you to snooze or tweak frequencies for specific notifications.

This is the way.

I'm not sure I'm following how this would be easier. If you decide you no longer want a notification for an app, you're probably going to think of it when a notification comes in...which you can then take care of right there as mentioned above.

If you randomly decide you no longer want notifications for a bunch of apps, wouldn't it be easier to go to Settings -> Notifications and then scroll through the list of apps there to review and turn off/on as needed? (Versus having to find the app on your Home Screen, long press, turn off, find next app, long press, turn off, find next app, long press, *oh wait, it's already off for this app*, find next app, long press...)

If anything, I'd rather see a long press option to take us to the settings screen for that app, rather than having to go to Settings -> Apps -> App. Then we'd have a quick way to access all the various app settings such as notifications, location services, camera access, photos access, etc.

Holy cow! TIL!! I was looking for this forever...

I keep mine off by default, but this would be handy for new installs. I hate, hate, hate, notifications!

Only apps that are allowed notifications are weather, texts and calls. Nothing else so much as gets a badge.
