I guess I sound stupid right? I dont know what I am doing!! Jailbreaking?

I have no clue how to jailbreak, I have looked at tutorials, but I am still super confused, I just need someone to help me step by step on how to jailbreak my phone. (I have a 1st generation and I want MMS.. and apparently to get that EVER, I will have to jailbreak)

What is redsnow, cydia?? How do I get apps? Can I update my phone through itunes anymore after I jailbreak, to maybe update to 3.1 when it comes out? What are going to be the major changes after it is jailbroken?

I need someone who is extremely knowledgeable about this, because I do not have the cash for a new phone, and I REALLY do not want to brick the only phone I have.. thanks.

EDIT: I have 3.0.1 right now, and I dont know how to downgrade it (if that is needed)

I do not know the insides of the phone like some do, and I checked out iClarified and it shows NOTHING for the iPhone 1stgen with 3.0.1.. that is why I am asking.

If you've read the tutorials and you still can't understand how to do it, perhaps jailbreaking is not for you. I'm not bring flippant or trying to be rude, but jailbreaking is not for everyone; it's a complex and unsupported hack that is recommended only for people who understand what they're doing. If you can't understand the tutorials, I'm not sure it's a good idea for you to be messing around with hacks.

If that is the case, then you have no business trying to JB your phone !

Unfortunately some people are just not tech savvy enough to do these types of things !

You are asking people to spell things out for you when they have already been spelled out in numerous places. The forums are for answers to hard questions, not basic "How-to's" because, well, because the how-to's already exist. There is no need to reinvent the wheel.

As several people have pointed out to you, look for a tutorial that you understand and are comfortable with. Read it. All of it. Beginning to end. BEFORE attempting anything. If you are still confused or don't get something then search google and MRoogle for the answers, its probably already been asked. If you STILL can't find the answer, then start a thread. People on here, including myself, are more than willing to help you, but we aren't going to hold your hand.

That is an incredibly... uninformed (I wanted to say ignorant but don't want to get in trouble for "name calling") thing to say. Age has nothing to do with being tech savvy and any assumption otherwise is just silly.

Wow, thats nice, I am a 23 year old Law student who graduates in 2 semesters, who already had my dream wedding, and I married a Telecommunications Graduate, who is also a cop, perusing the FBI. If you want to throw out shi* like that, not to mention we are planning our house being built... Thus the reason I am broke all the time, our money goes in to our house.. a nice 2 story with 4 bedrooms 2.5 baths.
