Stop me if I am wrong, but doesn't Multi-Media Messaging?

It looks to me that when "MMS" comes alive for the iPhone, it will only be Picture Messaging. What about Sound? or Video?

It looks to me that these are not in the scheme of things. Am I right?

Sound is supported. I don't know about video.

The 3GS is supposed to have the ability to send videos as well as pictures.
Not sure if the 3G does or not.

Edit: Just checked the specs on Apple's site and the 3GS supports Picture, Video and Audio (Voice Memos) messages, where the 3G only supports Picture and Audio messages.
So both phones do qualify as having true "Multi-Media Messaging".

the 3GS sends everything. my mms has been functioning for about a week now.
am able to send/receive pics, videos, pretty much any normal type of attachment

why would it only be pictures?
MULTI-MEDIA Not single-media

Multimedia Messaging Service, or MMS, is a telecommunications standard for sending messages that include multimedia objects (images, audio, video, rich text).

I believe the 3G will be able to receive and save videos, and send videos that it has received.
I guess we'll find out on the 25th.

Video will be supported. If at&t doesnt allow video, people will QQ.'

"well we finally got what we wanted...BUT WE WANT MOAR"

The iPhone can send pictures, video, sound, map locations and contact info via MMS.

Since this "Save video from Mail and MMS into Camera Roll" was noted in the release notes for the 3.1 iPhone update, I am assuming it is more than just pictures.

Multi media refers to text media and picture media therefor making it multimedia

MMS is the one and only correct term for the protocol and standard by which this "new" messaging type is communicated, therefore it's MMS, even if you couldn't even add pictures to it, you can send e-mail via MMS, for example. In fact, MMS is shockingly similar to email, but with many limitations on media sizes and the like, basically it's sucky email for phones.

Yay.

I've got an iPhone 3G with working MMS (I'm in Spain) and I can send and receive video.
