I hate my mighty mouse...

Ok, I made a couple of purchases yesterday and so far I'm 1 for 3. The only thing I'm particularly happy with is my basic mac keyboard.

Bought an iCurve which is far more wobbly than I expected, and a mighty mouse which I hate! I hadn't used one before, but I figured it couldn't be too far off from the old single click mouse. Man was I wrong. It feels different to me. Much less comfortable to use (although the scroll ball is cool). The side buttons are useless because they're difficult to push (I end up hitting them both at the same time rather than one or the other) and it get slippery as soon as my hand gets the least bit sweaty. Sorry, had to rant.

Can anyone recommend a simple USB mouse that's comfortable to hold for a while? I'm heading back to J&R today to lose my 15% restocking fee. Figure I'll go somewhere else to buy the next one in case I don't like that one either.

Give it some time, honestly, it's weird at first but once you get used to it, it's beautiful and functions well !

Microsoft makes great mice, its the only thing i like from them to tell you the truth, its a shame Apple cant make a decent mouse. I have used a Intellimouse 3.0 for allmost 2 years. best mouse i ever owned

yes i agree the mighty mouse was a bit bothersome at first use, but i think the more you use it the more it "loosens up". Now i dont wanna use any other mouse i own two of them one in the lap top bag one on the desk.

I like my Logitech MX 510 just fine...of course it is made for right handed people, so keep that in mind if you aren't. Logitech does make a left handed version of one of their mouses, but I don't remember which one.

That's funny, I LOVE my mighty mouse. I was skeptical until I got one included with my mac, and now I miss the fingerball when I'm working on any other computer.

If they were only a bit cheaper...

MM has to be the worst mouse |I have ever used. It has now gone back into it's box.

side buttons seem to click, the ball clogs up with dirt, it doesnt like to register left and right clicks correctly most of the time, it's heavy, it's UNCOMFORTABLE!

Go for an Intellimouse Optical. It's the one MS product I rate. Great mouse and not expensive.

Yes, Mighty Mouse is kind of a dud IMO. When working in Maya you use intensive 3 button key combinations. Mighty Mouse proved to be too clumsy for this. Logitech MX Laser is the best 3 button I've used and would highly recomend it.

When i first i got the mighty mouse i did not like it aswell, but after a week i love it. Its not as good as other mice but its good enough for what i do.

I worked a stint at a printing company and the g5 they had recently purchased was running slowly even after having removed the 2002 version of symantec/norton. I was asked by my boss to investigate the problem and realized the only non-apple component was a M$ Intellimouse I quickly grabbed a Logitech MX310 from a dual xeon workstation and tadah problem solved the Logitech hooked to the mac worked perfectly and the Microsoft mouse worked great in Win XP on the Xeon.

So to sum it up buy Logitech for your mac and you'll be a happy camper, I own the MX 510 for my Powerbook and a G5 laser for my Windows desktop.

Yeah, I was really disappointed with my Mighty Mouse as well. It scrolls too slow (the ball is too small, I mean), it jams, and it just feels uncomfortable. Oh, and you can't hold down one button and click with the other at the same time. I replaced it with a Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000, and I'm pretty happy with that. Only $20, and it matches my black Pro keyboard!

The side buttons are used together as one button; this is normal. Yeah, i get really sweaty and it slips here too. I used to love my MM, but im now starting to hate it.



I think i might get another Logitech.

Really? I HATE my intellimouse. That scroll button is too hard. I tell you the best mouse ever is the Logitech MX510. Now thats a mouse.

I went to J&R to return the damn thing, and their policy doesn't allow for returns on apple products unless they're defective. I even called this morning to double check after reading the policy (which specified exchanges, but said nothing about returns) and was told it would be no problem. NY retailers are such a pain in the butt.

Then I stopped by best buy to see what I could find that I liked, but I wasn't enthralled. I guess the MM is staying until I find something that I dislike less. Then it'll go on CL.

I second that ... a bit on the heavy side for me, but it's the best mouse i've used so far. Time to pick-up another one.

The only thing I hate about my Mighty Mouse is that dirt gets in the scrollball and clogs it up. So annoying!

But other than that, I really like the mouse. I didn't think the scrollball is too slow. I often wonder if those who complain it's too slow is using it the wrong way. I basically just use my whole finger to rub against the mouse over the ball. Don't try to roll the ball itself, just rub the finger over it, you'll see it goes much faster that way. And that's the way it's intended to be used.
