I am sick of this frickin kernel_task process acting up and it overheating. My ibook ran WoW better then this PoS. I know its not designed to game, but what is the point of having a 1.6ghz C2D if I cant use it? Might have well stuck with my G4. I dont even get a core shut down according to activity monitor, I just get kernel_task hoging up the cpu. I have owned this computer for about 5 months do you think apple will let me exchange it for a macbook? I mean it does not perform as advertised. I have been using apple for years but this is the biggest pile of crap I have ever used, windows or mac. Is ask for an exchange out of the question? And no nothing is wrong with it from what I have read it happens to everyone.

It never hurts to try. I would make sure you can clearly cite your examples of why it doesn't meet your expectations, and exactly why it wouldn't have been possible for you to know that, in the initial 14 day purchase period. Be stern, but not aggressive when you talk to them, and don't hesitate to get the store manager, or corporate involved.

Do you have a long purchase history with Apple? Sometimes bringing that up (with proof of that) is helpful in these situations.

Best of luck!

Right, your iBook may have had a slow processor, but it had a discreet graphics card, not on-board video like the MacBook and Air have. When it comes to games, that can make all of the difference in the world!

I hope Apple is able to work something out for you.

I have done my research, the iBooks card is actually worse, and the MBA can get 30FPS for about 20 mins on WoW after that it overheats and something called Kernel_Task starts to hog the CPU. The iBooks card was a mobility ATI 9200 32MB it is almost shameful to say it is a better card than the X3100(even though its no prize itself)

The good side of the grass.
Rev. 2 will be much better with the NVIDIA chipset. Hopefully you can get an exchange or even some credit towards an exchange when they come out. I'm in the same boat but am not a gamer so doesn't bother me as much. Now the PATA drive upgrade path is a different story. Filled my 80GB up right quick.

I was playing C&C3: Kane's Wrath today on LAN with some friends and after 10min in the game the fan was blasting at fullspeed and i got a blue screen

I also noticed a white dot in my screen, so i'm going to the apple store tomorrow, maybe exchange it for a normal macbook because this is serious crap :(

Finally someone that feels my pain, tell me how the exchange goes.

For sure the nVidia 9400 will run cooler than the Intel X3100. :)
