I have a Bootloader concern and a few questions?

I am fairly new to the whole Jailbreaking scene and know a bit of things here and there. I keep reading about the bootloader and how important it is. Not exactly sure of what it does so I am in the dark on this one.

I used Ziphone, with absolutely no problems, to Unlock and Jailbreak my 8GB iPhone with 1.1.4 firmware. It worked like a charm and I have had no issues or problems with my iPhone since doing this. I keep hearing bad things about Ziphone and how it permanently locks in your bootloader to 3.9.

Now… my concerns and questions are this.

1. Is having a 3.9 bootloader a bad thing? I am sure older iPhones have different bootloaders.

2. Is this going to affect the upcoming 2.0 firmware and will I be able to download and use it?

3. I have read there is something called “Bootneuter”, will this fix the problems that Ziphone has done to our iPhones?

4. Is there something else that can be done to help this issue?

I guess I am in the dark and need some answers and help with this issue.
 
If your phone is a new phone that came with 1.1.2 firmware or newer then it came with the 4.6 bootloader.

ZiPhone downgraded it to 3.9 IF YOU UNLOCKED your phone. If you just jailbreaked then your bootloader wasn't changed.

The original iPhones came with the 3.9 bootloader and there is no actual problem with having that bootloader... it is mainly down to warranty issues in that Apple will know you unlocked your phone even if you restored it because the bootloader would be the wrong one for the phone model.

If your on an official iPhone contract that is obviously bad news! or if you ever have an issue with the phone its not good...

It should not have any effect on the 2.0 firmware as the betas work fine on both types so far - but you never know what Apple will do but it seems very unlikely it will matter!

BootNeuter is part of pwnage and it lets you upgrade your bootloader from 3.9 back to 4.6 that your phone came with if its newish.

Before Pwnage and BootNeuter it was not possible to change your bootloader back from 3.9 to 4.6.

The bootloader is basically the security that allows the phone part of the phone to work - it checks the phone is unlocked and if it sees it is won't let it work. The old unlocks downgraded the bootloader to 3.9 because it had a security hole that tricked it into not checking the unlock (or something like that!) as 4.6 had no security hole. BootNeuter removes the security from either bootloader and is a new development!
 
I take it thou if you upgrade the firmwire, (eg say before 2.0 comes out theres a 1.16) that this breaks the unlock and you have to go about unlocking the software again?
 
So then, should you use bootneuter to go back up to 4.6? If so, can you do it without using pwnage on its own?
 
Got the Bootneuter app from Installer. Ran it from a Ziphoned 3.9. Worked like a charm. Now I have the 4.6 bl. This worked perfectly.

Now if I ever have iPhone problems... I can now take it to Apple with no worries. Great app.
 
From which repo did u got the bootneuter app in the installer.
Even I used ziphone to jailbreak my phone and I would like to get back to 4.6
Mine is 1.1.1.3(OTB) so i guess my BL was 4.6 originally.
