I own a 15"MacBook Pro 2018 core-i7 and sometimes it becomes abnormally slow. The animations will lag and it will behave worse than a pentium machine. If I close a few apps and wait for a while it becomes usable/normal again but it's super annoying, can anyone tell me what might be the cause?

I have attached a video of the issue below.

Try safe mode.

Find out what your memory pressure is by using Activity Monitor (look in the Memory section).

You can also use Activity Monitor to monitor CPU usage - see if there are apps that are taking a lot of CPU resources.

If these don't turn up anything, you can try benchmark program/sites that allow you to compare your computer with what other people have submitted for the same model you have. If your Mac is significantly slow that others, then there is a hardware problem. If you Mac is comparable to what other people have submitted, there's some software problem.
