Hello everyone, I am new here and I know nothing about the Iphone. anyway, I just purchased one from a friend of mine. Here's the problem, when I insert my SIM card I previously had in my AT&T RAZR phone the only thing that displays is emergency calls only. However, with his SIM card in it will display everything including his pictures, videos and etc. so please help me out as soon as possible. It's a 3g with 8 GB if that makes a difference.

my friend told me that not all SIM cards save all your personal information (contacts, pictures, etc) and only some do. however don't quote me on that because i have Verizon so i don't know if this is true or not because Verizon doesn't use SIM cards.

OMG!! STOP MOVING IT IN ALL OF THE iPHONE FORUMS!! I tried posting like 10 times in this thread..it says it didn't work!!

you have to activate it first! and get a data-plan.

Are you saying that I have to activate my SIM card or the actual phone?

i have the same issue: bought a used iphone and i wanna use my blackjack ATT SIM card. will i also have to go to ATT store and activate it? will it cost anything and will they make me upgrade my plan to the iphone plan? i currently have a data plan i think

If you currently have ATT service there are two ways to activate the iphone.
  • Restore Iphone in itunes
  • Place an active iphone sim card into phone or jailbreak the phone
Then you should be able to use your Att sim in the phone without having to sign a new contract. If you dont have an unlimited data plan you should first disable data before using phone or you will rack up alot of data charges just by accidentally opening an app that uses data.
