i have a question regarding iphone's internet connection

I just got a 2G iphone, i just unlocked it through pwnage, firmware 2.0.. my question, can i use the internet without wi-fi? or that only works with data plan? (i didnt sign up for any plan as far as i know)

because apparently, i can use the internet without wi-fi... i checked my att account and it doesnt say that i have the iphone plan (or maybe it's not updated yet)

can anyone please let me know what's going ong? im not sure if that's how unlocked iphones work

*also, how do i download apps? i just unlocked it last night, and not sure how...

any help would be great, thank in advance

If you are on AT&T and you do not have a data plan you are going to get charged per kilobyte, which means you are going to have a HUGE bill. Just add a data plan and you should be fine.

My question is why did you unlock it if you are on AT&T anyways?

how could you possibly use the internet without wifi OR a data plan? obviously you'd need one of them at least. if you're going online without wifi and no data plan, then be prepared for a nice fat juicy bill.

isnt it $20 a month? i dont really wanna pay that much monthy, im mostly at school and at work where wi-fi connection is available... i was just curious why it let me, so im guessing i was using that pay-per-kb... good thing i stopped it right away because i had a hunch it was that

The data plan is definately worth it. When I got my 3G the girl at AT&T messed up and didn't put a data plan on my account. I got my phone bill and it was $100 over what it should have been. That was using 3G very, very little as I use Wifi 95% of the time. So I would get it because I am sure you will be paying more than the $30 for the plan.

Just be forewarned, there is a good possibility of a very high wireless bill from data access.
