It is jailbreakable, but it will probably be a tethered jailbreak. This means that each time you need to reboot your phone (after running the battery dead, installing upgrades to certain Cydia packages, etc.) you will need to connect to a computer and re-run blackra1n just to get it past the boot logo. All your installed apps and customizations will still be there, but your phone won't be able to boot on its own. This is because the new boot loader cannot be permanently hacked to boot a modified firmware.

Anyone know if it's jailbreakable?

Agree with the above poster. However, to know for sure, put the iPhone into DFU mode and then check the boot rom, 359 is good, but 359.X (i.e. 359.2, 359.3) is the "new" bootloader that will need a tethered jailbreak.

My phone is week 45 but is remanufactured (a replacement phone) so it remains at 359. I got lucky.

Instructions on DFU:

359.3 is perfectly jailbreakable. its 359.3.2 that is the problem.

Damn.

What options do I have then?

Do you guys remember after what week the new bootrom was implemented?

It depends on the factory. Anywhere from from week 37 to week 41.

Generally before week 39 or 40 you are safe but best to check bootrom in DFU status.

hi,
i just jailbroke my week 44 3gs using blackra1n and its worked perfectly. its got the new bootloader. Although its a tethered jailbreak i dont see how this is really a problem cos when i was downloaded packages and stuff i was next to my MBP. I dont see myself installing packages when im away from it either.
So if you are wanting to jailbreak you should.

And if you know you're going to be away from ur computer for a bit then just make sure you dont turn it off or let the battery drain and dont install any other packages.

whilst im here is there any must have packages i should get
so far ive got;

-sms helper
-SBSettings
-Backgrounder
-categories
-winterboard

any1 recommend any themes either cos the few that i've tried seem to over complicate the look of the iphone.

cheers
