I have absolutely no idea how to develop iPhone apps, which is why I need to hire an application developer but I’d like to find a few references first. I am looking for a developer that will walk me through the process, offer different options for types of apps since I’m undecided and be experienced with a variety of projects. Any suggestions?

You should look for a freelancer, they usually bid on projects and they can do it for cheap.

Edit: never mind, someone realized the previous post (not devaspora's) was an advertisement. All good here!

Best of luck to your project RFitch!

If you have a mac, you can learn to code yourself. It can be very intimidating (trust me I learned everything on my own), but remember the most important thing: baby steps. No one else on this planet can develop the app exactly the way you want it, except you. My 2 cents. Google is your friend!

I learned on my own also with the help of a few books and tutorials. 2 years later I am working for myself doing it full time so it is possible. Let me know if you wanna chat or have any questions just send me a pm.
