I have already given up on Continuity

Myabe someone with more expertise than me could kindly help me with Continuity.

Macbook running Yosemite Public Beta 3
iPhone 5 running iOS 8.0

iMessages, Facetime, Apple Id and iCloud accounts are the same across my devices.

The option for iPhone cellular calls is checked in both iOS and Yosemite.
I'm using the same Wi-Fi network.

Settings for FaceTime and Message are IDENTICAL in both my devices: same phone number and e-mail addresses.

My Mac is NOT SUPPORTED for Handoff. Handoff is set to OFF on my iPhone.

I can send and recieve iMessages between the iPhone and the Mac, in synch. No problem here.

I CAN start a call from the Mac. HOWEVER I AM UNABLE TO RECEIVE NOTIFICATIONS FOR INCOMING CALLS/iMESSAGES on my Macbook.

I have already signed out & back in from my accounts, and network setting have already been reset. PRAM and SMC have also been reset.

Still no luck.

Sorry for the dumb question, but in order to receive these notifications, do I have to have FaceTime and Messages running all the time?

I have allowed Facetime calls and Messages on Notification Center: banners, sounds, etc.

Am I doing anything wrong?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Which model and year Mac do you have? I believe it has to support Bluetooth LE in order for Continuity to work.

I just had my first phone call on the Mac a little while ago. It actually startled me when the Mac started ringing.

I didn't do anything in 10.10 or iOS to set it up - it just worked (no pun intended).

This is 2010 Unibody Macbook, and thus, Bluetooth 4 unsupported.

After reading numerous threads, I ended up thinking that, even Handoff is not supported, I was still allowed to use these Continuity features (Messages and phone calls -- as for SMS relay, I know that it's been pushed forward till October).

Proof of that is that I can make calls from my Mac even having Handoff off.

The fact is related to not receiving notifications on my Mac when the phone is ringing or receiving a Message.

I'm running Yosemite PB3 on the original rMBP and have an iPhone 6. For whatever reason Continuity refuses to work properly. Whenever I get an incoming call, it shows up on my phone and my rMBP. However, if I try and answer on my computer, I immediately get a Call Failed message. Same thing happens if I try and make a regular phone call using FaceTime on my computer - immediately says Call Failed .

Any suggestions?

Make sure they are on the same wifi network, cellular calls enabled checked in FaceTime settings, and then try logging out of FaceTime on your iPhone and back in. Logging out and back in corrected this error for me.
