I have an itch for the 11" MBA

But I think it would be ridiculous to get it considering i don't really need it.

I use a 15" MBP high-res for work and have a 24" imac at home. I love both machines, they can do anything i need to and dont want to replace one with the air, just add to it.

the base air just sounds like a fun machine to have around for trips and stuff, so i dont have to lug the 15".I used to have a 13" MBP and liked to lug it on trips, but the 15 sucks, its just too big (especially after having had a 13".)

So the 11" base looks perfect, especially for ~$930. So any advice on that?

I have the 15 MBP Hi Res i7 and MBA 11.6. They complement each other well for my purpose as the MBP serves as a main computer and the MBA as a travel computer. If you can afford both and a 27" ACD would be an awesome set up, especially if you travel a lot like I do.

Since you already have an iMac, the 11.6 is a no brainer as you mention the 15 is somewhat of a beast to lug around. Having an iMac an a 15 MBP can be redundant in terms of power and purpose.

Is it a Core i5 MacBook Pro or a Core 2 Duo? If it's the latter, have you considered whether a 13" "Ultimate" MacBook Air might work as a replacement?

I was in a similar situation. I had a 27 inch iMac and a iPad. I fell in love with the 11 inch air. Had to have it. I travel quite bit and it really is the ultimate portable Mac. You quickly get used to it's screen and general limitations (battery, smaller hd if you don't go ultimate).

I decided that I'd rather keep my iPad and purchase the 13 air. The larger real estate of the 13 was a trade off I felt comfortable making. So much so, that I've decided to part with my iMac and use the 13inch air as my main machine with a 24inch cinema display. The 13 is still portable enough for me when I need it as I continue to use my iPad frequently. Don't get me wrong the 11 is a incredible machine. Just make sure you have a real use for it. Make your money work for you as much as possible.

The 15 is required for work, it is a 2010 i5. The imac is such a great home base computer with large hard drive, great screen - I don't want to replace it with a 11" but I want it anyways. We used to have a maxed out 12" powerbook that kinda just laid around the house and it was so practical. I'd take it everywhere with me, but it got to be underpowered and slowwww. Couldn't really do much with it on the modern internet. I love the idea of having another tiny portable like that.

im in a similar situation.. i have an ipad and mbp 15, but im in college and find 15 to big.. but i find the ipad useless when i bring it to school, bc its easier just to pull out my ip4...

I want to get an 11 mba, but think its stupid to have two laptops..
will most likely end up selling them and getting imac 27 & 11 MBA

Ditto. It is all that is advertised and much more. You come to appreciate it more once you've had it for a few weeks. After that, all other laptops seem bloated, at least in my experience.
