I have hacked my iphone 3G

See pic - The carrier now reads "verizon" next to the 3G.....

(yes obviously it is not running on verizon)

Has anyone else managed to do anything similar ?

It is a screen snapshot taken directly on the phone, but if you don't believe me I could video to show its really on my 3G phone.

how about the window version??

Well how about us window users? I want to do it too but I don't have mac to begin with.:confused::confused::(
 
Yeah, I used Erica Sadun's program for changing carrier name in 1.1.3, and it's carried over to 2.0 It just says "iPhone" instead of "AT&T"
 
ok well as sheepnutz said above, I just used ericas app to change the carrier on version 1.1.4 and made a back up. Then when I synched my 3G phone it just transferred across. The funny thing is I don't know how to reverse it !
I might have to try carrierstring. Thanks for the info

so you have restored from a backup, you have not hacked it

I had this on my iPhone 3G as a carry over from Erica's program on my 1st gen phone, but be warned that this will cause a corruption of your backups in iTunes. I can no longer restore to an older backup in which my carrier logo was changed as they have all been "corrupted".... Losing 6 months of text messages and all my settings since then was a bit annoying!

How did you change the carrier name and keep the time using CaptionCrunch? I got the app, but it will only change the time to show a message. I can't figure out how to change the carrier name and keep the time like you have in your screenshot.

For those who are asking, yes CaptionCrunch does work for hacking the time message and the carrier name on a completely new, and stock, 3G iphone. There are two different apps for each one...
 
Sweet! I have my name on the 3g instead of AT&T. Just like MIM. This solves the problem of my husband grabbing my phone by mistake.
When I first pulled up the app, I was confused as to how to enter it and ended up tacking my name after AT&T. I tried again and just backspaced a bunch, then added the name then 'set' it.

Okay let's be clear, you're talking about having a jailbroken phone and Erica's app and the rest of us are talking about CaptionCrunch. I've restore numerous times, before and after using CaptionCrunch and have no corruption problem with any of my backups.

I have the same problem. I can change the time using captain crunch, but not carrier logo back to AT&T. It is still verizon !!!!
 
yup, make it mine on cydia lets you change the carrier and add anything you want on the middle of the top bar
