I looked at my mac and was trying to figure out how much of the 1 year service plan I have left after I just bought my mini used. However, it does not show me a serial number or anything ... The guy said he took it to the apple store to get it reset to factory default before he sold it to me for some reason. Did the apple guys mess up and not set my SN back?

any ideas on what to do?

Sounds as though it may have had the logic board replaced. Have a talk to Apple and see if they are able to reset it.

What this guy said. There should be a serial number somewhere on the bottom of the device

ugh, I gotta take it in and let them fix it ...

the stores are always so dang crowded

make an appointment it goes smoother. I do agree it is a pita but appointments make it a bit easier. Also ask them after the repair is done if they can give you a coupon for your trouble.

They can issue a spend 300 get 100 off coupon. Or spend 300 and get 75 off.

It is a code not a gift card sometimes they do this when they make an error. If you don't use it in 45 days it dies and you have to spend 300 to take advantage of it.. So it is not the same as a gift card. You could always give it away to a friend.

Remember the error they made cost you a roundtrip to the store. In my case that is a 40 mile roundtrip. Asking for a coupon is a legit thing to do in this case.

hmmm a coupon does sound good since they should know better than this. As from my research this is a pretty common mistake from these "geniuses" ... kinda reminds me of the geek squad from best buy so far ...

yeah they do issue them. I got one for 45 bucks in feb when they screwed an order up. what is also nice is they lower the tax.

so on the 45 dollar one I got.

I did not pay 7% NJ sale tax on the 45 which is another 3 bucks or so in savings.
