I have some questions about the Macbook

I will be getting my first Macbook within the next couple of days. I have a few questions

1. I have a Windows based computer (desktop) at home.. Windows XP Media Edition 2005.. and I have a bunch of video/music files on it. I was wonder would the Mac be able to play .wmv files or which program would I need.

2. Would the Macbook be able to read SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Micro USB 2.0 Drive so I can transfer my video & music files?

3. Which is better Safari (which comes with the Macbook) or Firefox


4. What full programs does the Mac come with... is iLife the full version or demo.

Stupid question: What does the "i" stand for in iPod, iLife, iSight.. etc

That's all the questions I can think of right now.. if I think of more I will ask some

1. flip4mac is the program, or you can get parallels or bootcamp and use XP along with OSX

2. yes, the Mac should be able to read that flash drive

3. I prefer Firefox because of flasblock, adbloc and other plugins, but Safari has it's benefits too

4. iLife is a full suite, not a demo. iWork is a demo that comes with it. You can get iWork preinstalled for around $60.

5. some say it stands for "internet" but it doesn't make sense too much anymore http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet-related_prefixes

The only other thing I'd add is that if you have a non-WMV file that QuickTime won't play, you might want to try installing VLC and/or MPlayer. They're free players that will often handle things that QT won't.

QT7. I would suggest looking at Tiger's page and reading about all of it's features.

If want to wait, or you decide to upgrade to Leopard in October, than it will have quite a few more features including QT 8 most likely.

The latest. If not, you do the software update

Never the "Pro" version though, that's 29$...

6. Windows has the basic write program known as "Notepad". Does make have anything like that. Because I moved a few files to my thumb drive the I wrote links and stuff into "Notepad", what program will Mac be able to read that?

Only other thing I'd add is to max the memory out to 2gb. Watch the forum fatwallet.com -- hot deals and search for the sodimm 667 deals that come up. A good price for 2x1gb would be sub $60 (frys has them now)
