Is this a rumor or truth?
If it is true, i feel risky to store files in iCloud as they do not have their in House system as like Google. Our data might be at risk.

I honestly can't imagine Apple spending that much money on THREE data centres, not to mention the amount of bragging they've been doing about them.

Then running a Microsoft/Amazon server within them... Not very Apple-like.

They wouldn't be this proud about iCloud if they weren't VERY confident.

Where did you "hear" this?

Apple built their own data center in North Carolina to handle iCloud.

Its hitting a number of tech sites. A quick googles comes up with this link

I read the same thing and found it curious since they built a massive data center.

It wouldn't be the first time apple was caught using Microsoft technology. They used window servers for years for apple.com.

Weird.

Is it possible that it's being used for now, until the data centers are ready?

That's a dangerous move by apple if that's the case. They're not testing their infrastructure but someone else's. If they then go live on theirs, its basically untested.

I can't if that story is accurate or not, but I do hope they have their datacenter operational and running the icloud beta in some form, otherwise it could be a nightmare for us.

If you read the original article, it looks like it's on iMessage traffic they tested. And even the article pointed out at the end that this could be only temporary until Apple's new datacenter is ready.

Neowin reports iCloud is based (partially) off of Amazon and Microsoft storage

I thought this was pretty interesting.

A discovery made by Infinitely Apple showed that, for now, iCloud "[doesn't store] actual content. Rather, it simply manages links to uploaded content." A test conducted by sending pictures between two iPhones was logged. The log contained URLs to Windows Azure's BLOB (Binary Large Object) storage, which is used to store and receive raw data.

Yeah its kinda surpising but not really the first time Apple was caught not eating their own dog food.

I recall back in the day that apple was using windows servers for apple.com for a while. They quickly backed tracked and replaced them but it was a bit embarrassing.

Now with the data center that was built, I'm not sure why they needed to use other services from Amazon or MS.
