I've had my iphone since August - been in love w/ it since day 1. I just got my first mac and after figuring out garageband I am going crazy making all kinds of ringtones. They make it so easy. Any song I want I can make into a ringtone! This is the coolest thing ever. Sorry, but I'm still way too happy about all this.

I have not done this yet but cant wait to .... i was a little skeptical about using garage band but so many have praised it as being super easy for making ring tones....

What part do you use for making ring tones ?

Is there a step by step list you used for doing it ???

thanks and GREAT to hear you got it to work well..... Love my iPhone as well ! :p

i love garage band!

all i do is drag the song onto the program, shorten it to 30 seconds, and pick what partof the song i went, click "send it iTunes as Ringtone" and voila!

seriously super easy. just fool around w/ garageband for awhile and learn what the buttons do. I still dont know probably what most of em do but I know enough to make ringtones. you want the step by step

1. drag a song into garageband.
2. pick the part you want as your ringtone ( <41 sec.)
3. delete the rest of the song (the before & after parts you dont want)
4. loop it, the button that looks like repeat in itunes.
5. click send ringtone to itunes
6. sync your phone

One more thing....... I'd suggest increasing the volume of your track before sending the ringtone to iTunes. It makes it have a louder overall volume so it is easier to hear when your phone rings.

What do windows users recommend using?? I find my way of going through like 3 different programs to make one tedious.

I use Audacity...its free and its a super program for other media related projects. Also, for windows users only create a tone that is less then 30 secs long or else it will not sync to the iPhone...it will only sit in iTunes Ringtone folder.

THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!

I used to hate making ringtones, but using SSH to get the ringtones over to my phone is easy and fun.
