Not the new ones sorry guys, Imac g3's. I bought all 11 of these babies on ebay for $117 AUD (thats roughly $10.50 AUD ea), i have yet to pick them up but, the auction says "most work, some don't" so what should i do, i plan to only keep one or two. What i want to know is, if some have minor faults will they be easy to repair? is there a way to see whats wrong with them? are they easy to strip for parts? is there web instructions for making a macquarium on a g3 imac? what else can i do with these beasts? :D

So you could buy about 110 of those for the price of a new 20". Good deal. Make a little farm there and you'll have a supercomputer at your disposal.

whereabouts in AUS are you? I'd be interested in taking some off your hands (possibly the non-working ones, depending on their condition) but I'd rather not pay much in shipping. If you're around Brisbane I wouldn't mind a PM

that is the computer i'm using right now..."sigh"
mine works fine, but an upgrade would be excellent.

I think the amusing thing is that you could probably sell all the keyboards and recoup most of the $110. :D

EDIT: I hate to be a bitch, but...

Yellowdog + Cluster + F@H.

These old iMacs consume a lot of power. Running 11 iMacs with CRTs is a very inefficient way to get the kind of processing power that they produce, even for a good cause like F@H. Don't kill the environment just to help the protein researchers, please!

hahaha ok heres my plan of attack, keep one working one. Give another working one to my nanna. Sell any other working slot loading ones (and install photoshop to add extra interest) Ill sell the keyboards and mouses seperatly. And one non working tray loading one will go into making a imacquarium (terrified ill get electricuted when trying to make it) all other working tray loading ones will be sold as is. Broken tray loading ones will be sold as is for parts or stripped for parts?

Does that sound useful and profitful?

Sounds good to me! Smart move keeping and selling the slot loading ones, as they are better and more valuable.

I once bought 17 Mac SE's for a total of $5.00 USD from a school auction. Some actually worked I got some good exercise loading them up in my truck. Other than that I did nothing with them lol...

Yeah, you may want to disconnect the power from the iMac before dumping water in it. If your bold enough, you shouldn't have a problem with it. ;)

You should totally put an old version of unreal tournament on them and have a massive LAN party.
