Picked my Max up at lunch today. The gold is stunning, especially the bands. I ordered a clear minimalist case on Amazon. It still takes too much away from the aesthetic of the phone. Has anyone ever tried the clear skins on an iPhone? I'm seriously considering it.

I used clear skins a long time ago on my 3G S. If you don’t really want to use a case the skins would be your best bet.

It all depends on if you have AppleCare.

Just go case-less. You got AppleCare+, right? So you have two relatively inexpensive replacements if there is catastrophic damage from an accident. Life is too short to worry about scratches and small dings though.

Clear skin are ok until they start turning orangish yellow. That's the only problem imo so if you get one, get the hard plastic ones not the rubberized ones

Interestingly enough, I am not worried about breaking the screen. I don't mind paying the replacement cost for that. When it comes to resale (which I do yearly) the scratches and dings are what matters.

I have apple care+ and I went to the ghost Armor kiosk to install a back clear film. It’s very invisible and this year for the XS max ghost Armor changed their design where the bands are actually covered(besides the port and corners). I am not using a case anymore and cancelled my order on peel thin case.

I love the feel of it by itself without any added protection. I do have apple’s screen protector installed(the ones with the machines). I sometimes place my phone in my pocket and I can’t stand having the screen bare.
