Congrats.

I have been considering a 2.66 vs. a 2.33 24" iMac. For me I like the responsiveness of the Mac Pro and would pair it with a 23" ACD, but I think the Mac Pro while responsive and fast may be overkill for my daily needs. I think I would really only notice it when using Final Cut Express (which I don't have yet) or iMovie. But I find the aluminum 23" ACD much more appealing than the white iMac. I like the space saving of the iMac and the 1.66 Mini I have no is not enough, not to mention I want a dedicated GPU. And unfortunately there is nothing between the Mini and the Mac Pro, other than the all-in-one iMac.

nice upgrade, congrats!

jumped from a dual 1.8 g5 to macpro 2.66, and would not go back even with the trouble i've had making the switch. fast, quiet, and upgrades for ever. or until the next hardware release anyway...

was a solid PPC guy, but bootcamp/parallels is tough to argue with! lets just say that i don't miss VPC7 very much. ;)

Thanks !

I am in the same boat as you in regards to not needing a mac pro for my daily use but I overlooked every aspect of apple's lineup and the pro was the best fit for me and the future.

I really only plan on ripping hd content with the eyetv hybrid and working with aperture on a event photography.

I do plan on upgrading my 24" Dell to a newer apple display once they release the new greener displays.
