Under the Sea
so even tho they might be updated next month i think
the refurb is an amazing deal.

this is my first refurb so i have my fingers crossed
i went with the matte screen 15" i hope thats the right one for me.

Also... one thing that kinda got me was the shipping date...

everything on apple.ca is shipped in 24 hours... but this
MBP says ships in 3-5 days :s

i hope i get it b4 xmas :D

first of all, congrats! If you purchased a santa rosa MBP, you will not be disappointed!

I hope it gets there on the 24th or earlier for ya :)

as for refurbished....
I dropped my macbook pro a couple times already on accident (parties, gigs, being on-the-go in a careless fashion)
and it suffers a bent case around the open button (to open the laptop)...
I haven't noticed any performance problems though...
Knowing I dropped it a couple times, ill never feel safe to sell it to someone.
But after 6 months, It still runs like a champ.

These things are built TOUGH!

Because of my experience, other people who say that they had to return their macbook pros a couple times bcuz they were "defective", are most likely lying. I'm sure 90% of them are just taking advantage of Apple's customer service.

(I work retail; the public is full of awful dishonest people)

Good Luck and Have Fun!!!

p.s.- if you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay for the refurb?

I just received my refurb Macbook Pro yesterday!
I live in Winnipeg, MB. I ordered it on Monday the 10th, it shipped on Thursday and I got it Monday. I used the 2-3 day shipping option for an extra $23. I paid $1869 for my 2.2 SR C2D 15" MBP.

SO far it is perfect, no dead pixels, no yellowing of the bottom third of the screen, no keyboard issues (which were fixed by an Apple update today BTW).
The screen is awesomely bright, much brighter than the 17" MBP.
The case was brand new, not even any fingerprints on it. The power supply was brand new too, still in the sticky wrap. All the cables and manuals were also new. Oh and also the power brick is the newer model smaller power supply. Basically I got a brand new MBP for $330 less.

I've already installed WinXP on mine via BootCamp and was playing Guild Wars for a hour online. The 8600 Nvidia is pretty powerful, GW works great with the settings mostly maxed. Haven't tried any other games yet.

I am very happy with my refurb, glad I went this route. My plan was to buy a refurb to hold me over till summer when the Montevina MBPs come out, then sell this one.

Nice to hear, im upgrading from a 17" 1.33 powerbook... i dont think the smaller screen will bother me... .. i hope... but i cant wait to play some games!!! ill be using this MBP for Recording/logic/protools... photoshop/flash and oooooooh yaaaa GAMES!!! i cant wait!

have you tried any other games??

My non Santa Rosa MBP at 2.16 runs faster then my iMac Santa Rosa at 2.0 both with 2 gb of ram. Go figure.

thats a pretty broad generalization. My MBP had a messed up video card, which was diagnosed at the genius bar. Some new ones do come with defects. But I would say getting a refurb is a safe bet
