I have a G4 733 with 896 megs of ram and a 40 and 60 gig hard drive, and imovie 2 was AWSOME. I just downloaded imovie 3, and there is a 1.5 second (sometimes 2-3) delay on EVERYTHING. iMovie 2 was VERY responsive, but 3 is terrible, and I am going to probably have to go back to 2.

Anyone else have this problem?

Well I restarted and it turns out its only a .5-1 second delay now, but I have been noticing problems with titles, sometimes it will put the wrong title in (it will say ABC in the title text box, and put DEF in the clip, where DEF was the thing I used last title)

Mabey 3.02 will fix my problems

If Apple has an iLife/iMovie feedback form, be sure to use it to report any bugs you may be experiencing.

Bugs

iMovie 3 keeps crashing on me!!!! It's driving me insane....

Using the still picture movement tools, it will crash. Transitions turn the preview screen all gray. Applying effects turnt he preview screen gray and sometimes crashing.

I have 512 Megs of RAM an iMac 450Mhz with DVD player. I've installed iMovie on my laptop and I get similar problems.

I too have noticed it is very slow.....

iPhoto crashed twice as well. not sure why... I just was enlarging a photo and it quit. The other was selecting the area to crop it just quit...

I haven't used the programs since Saturday night.. I think I'll wait until iMovie 3.1 and iPhoto 2.1 come out...

wow im sorry guys, imovie 3 works great for me, ive already made a couple of movies, nothing down and dirty though to test things out.

Really? Have you tried any effects? Like fairy dust or earthquake? On my dual gig, I think my machine is about to die when trying to preview those.

#1: mnkeybsnss et. al have credited the "lagging" of iMovie from the amount of music and photos you have on your computer, as well as the number of movies. If you have a lot of each, you will have to wait for all of them to load. If you have very few tunes or photos, iMovie will launch much faster.

#2: IF you MUST send feedback to Apple about any errors you find making iMovie 3 near IMPOSSIBLE to use, after taking into consideration the number of files you have on your computer, then use the following link and calmly provide feedback to Apple.

http://www.apple.com/feedback/imovie.html

I realize I am using a lot of caps, but (A) I am sick and tired of people not reading other threads about iMovie and not taking into consideration the risks involved, (B) I'm almost positive that with the heated complaints in the MacApps section of the boards Apple has most certainly received some radical comments about iMovie 3, as well as some harsh remarks from rather immature users of iMovie 3, and (C) I want anyone, who is going to send feedback keeping in mind the issue at hand, to express the issue formally and calmly, so Apple does not have to read any radical feedback. Apple doesn't need that; they need descriptive feedback and not violent rants.

Does anyone have a copy of iPhoto 1? I just got 2, and I haven't heard too many great things, and since I am running an iBook, I think that iPhoto 2 will be too slow? Any ideas?

I dunno whats wrong with your guys computers, but im running iMovie3, iDVD3, and iPhoto2 on a dual ghz tower with no problems whatsoever... in fact i just finished editing a 3 hour play in iMovie3 and notice any delays or problems at all...

Guy down the hall is running iPhoto 2 on his 700 ibook flawlessly. iMovie 3 runs alright on his too but he doesnt have much music or projects to load.

That solves it...

You're not having any problems because iMovie, iPhoto and iDvd were built for G4 running at 1 Ghz... The guys at Apple are probably running 2 Ghz G5 machines hidden in a G4 look alike box....

Don't get me wrong... I love Apple. I'm an mac geek... Been supporting Apple since Apple was started basically... I had one of the first Apple machines, and an Apple IIe, a IIgs, and about 7 other apple computers... I think I'm on my 10th which is one of the eMacs. the next machine will be one of the new 1 Ghz iMac.

I haven't tested iMovie or iPhoto out on my eMac as that machine is running great with 10.2.2... I keep that machine running fine while my others are beta machines which I don't care if I lose the files. My opinon... 10.2.3 was a bad OS... I've had numerous problems with it. Maybe iLife will work better with 10.2.4. We'll wait and see.

I have 1100 songs and 0 pictures, loading isn't the problem though, its everything I do after its launched. Do the songs cause that? I mean their already loaded, why should they cause lag? How can I fix this (dont say delete your MP3s)

Sorry if I sounded to harsh.
