I'm thrilled so far with my iPad, but I've run into a few issues. I'm a student and I plan on using this device primarily for school. I have a few questions.

1. I've been using my iPad to take notes in lieu of my MBP. I love the setup with the wireless keyboard, but the iPad version of pages seems to fail hard at making outlines. While it makes lists automatically, it will not make sublists and indents without using the menu. I don't have time during lectures to fiddle around with the menu, so I'm wondering if there's a better app for taking notes.

2. What's the best app available for taking typed notes as well as allowing for some drawings? I'm a premed student, so I often have to draw equations in some of my classes. If I can find a good app, I'll likely get a compatible stylus.

3. I got GoodReader for obtaining PDF files off of my school's website. The only problem is that the browser in GoodReader treats every link as if it's opening a new window, which my school's blackboard program hates. Thus, I can't get to the links that have the PDF files, as I get an "Error: session is already running" error. I looked in the settings and I can't seem to find a workaround.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading my questions.

Welcome to MacRumors, nsorrelle!

I suggest you stick with pages because at least your notes will be in a standard file format. But there are some notes apps in the app store. Also take a look at evernote. I've also used memos and evernote for taking notes in class. Rather I should say I've not tried pages in class yet but I've heard it works well. I used pages in a meeting tonight and i was pleased with my ability to keep up. For equations, i suggest a drawing app then put the drawing on the clipboard and paste it into your notes in pages. I use goodreader and it pulls things off blackboard fine at my school but you could also try air sharing HD as it might do better but it's not free.

Thanks for your input. I figured out how to wifi share with goodreader today, so I'll likely go that route. Hopefully Apple will improve Pages soon.
