I really like my mini too. I bought it about a 6 weeks ago, is my first mac. I'd not even demo'ed a mac much in the Apple store, just a few minutes clicking around. I basically bought the thing out of sheer curiosity to try out OSX.
When the original minis came out a year or 2 ago I said I was going to buy one, but never could bring myself to pull the trigger. This time I was wanting a new computer, mine was about 3.5yrs old. Still got the job done for what I used it for, but I just wanted something new. Plus XP was beginning to drag a lot, would need to reboot every day or two for occasional freeze ups. But after having to reformat and install win98 every 6 months, 3.5yrs on this XP install was pretty good to me.
Its amazing what the mini can do, what all in packed in that tiny space. Plus its completely silent. My old pc had so many fans running you could easily hear it across a large room. But I just got so used to hearing the sound of those fans that I almost didn't notice them. But, when I would want to watch a movie, I'd have to shut off the computer because the noise from the fans was distracting.
I remember first turning the mini on and after 5-10min I said to my wife "you hear that?" and she said "hear what?" and I said "the sound of silence."
The mini isn't quite as peppy as I thought it would be, but it gets the job done. (I also got the core duo). I plan on putting in a 1gb stick sometime which should speed things up a bit.
But overall I'm happy with my purchase. Happy enough with macs that we bought a macbook a few weeks ago, which is my wifes computer. Her 3yr old Vaio was literally on its last leg. And considering I paid MORE for the Vaio than the macbook, that's sad.
