I have been unsatisfied with web browsers lately.

I just found ARC Search and wow, I like this browser! I think I might have found my true love!

The mobile version? There's a desktop version too, and some people really like it, while others don't. I don't know if the mobile and desktop versions sync any information, but you might still enjoy it.

(well, I say all that but I personally still prefer Firefox :p)

Out of curiosity what are you unsatisfied with a web browser? It it not something I ever give much thought to, I use Safari, web pages load fast, my passwords load with iCloud and I never have to think about the browser, just the content of the page I have loaded.

I would not use Arc.

Any browser that requires you to register an account to user the browser is a browser that isn’t putting privacy and security first, in my opinion.

Even though Arc claims that the company is not sent any information about the user’s browsing use, user ID and each website visited is still being tracked and the information phoned home ( to who knows how many other companies).

I’m not here to promote one thing over the other but,

I did not have to register to use it. I did sign up to use their syncing service between my devices. I don’t know how else you could sync between devices with out some sort of registration.

The Arc Search app on iOS is what I really like. Put in my search terms and hit “browse for me” and it returns a great list of results matching what you are searching for in an organized, thoughtful manner. It also shows where it got the results from. With none of the results that I wasn’t looking for like all the other search engines do. Oh, did I mention there are NO ads either!! I’m so sick of wading through ads.

It also summarizes pages with a quick gesture.

Apple password manager works in Arc just as it does in Safari.

That it for me, just thought people might like it as much as I do!

ARC isn't a web browser per se.

If you type "Moroccan lamb tage recipe with Ras el Hanout" and ask it to search. it does the following for you.

Finds the six most popular websites
Reads the content of each site
Aggregates the information it read
Provides you with a definitive recipe and method
afterwards
Shows web links if you're not satisfied with this recipe.

For day to day searches its easy enough to Duck Duck Go and select the most appropriate link.

On the occasion where you can't find the answer to a specific question it does an absolutely stellar job for you and saves you the annoyance of clicking in and out of loads of potential sites.

Been using Arc over a year now. Initially got the invite on MacOS and got every iteration since (iOS and iPadOS). What won me over is how clean and minimal it is. I’m not and don’t want to be a power user on mobile and even for iPad I rarely need to do any heavy lifting. I’m really liking Safari on iPadOS 18 so I use it sparingly but Arc is by far the most pleasing day to day. I hate when a beautifully designed site is ruined by ads banners etc and Arc eliminates those for you without having to tweak yourself. On the MacOS version you can go even further and customize numerous elements of the site yourself to your liking. If you’re a power user Firefox is the way to go imo but aesthetically won’t be near as pleasing. It’s all about use case and Arc for the average Apple user is perfect.
