I was on the UK Apple store and i clicked on refurbished iMacs but last years 27" was 3.06Ghz and this years is only 2.93Ghz what am I missing?

possibly the graphics card could be different. I had a 27" iMac from last year but traded up for this years Mac Pro.
 
The 3.06 GHz was dual core. The current 2.93 is quad core.

You can also get a 3.6 Ghz dual core one now if you configure it.
 
Clock rates aren't everything. It has to do with soooo many factors. For instance, the Core Solo Mac Mini is notably faster in many ways than the G5 iMac. However, the iMac was 1.8ghz and the Mac Mini was 1.5ghz. Then again, the 867mhz G4's smoked the 1700mhz Pentium 4. I 'unno. :confused:
 
You are looking at a core 2 duo vs. a quad core i7. Big difference!!!
