Congratulations, waiting is the worst part, a bit of advice, cut yourself off from MR for a while, i know it'll be hard, but it'll go by faster, luckily, i was on vacation for most of my shipping time.

;) LOL.

Welcome aboard TheBusDriver! The great thing about going Mac now is that it's really no longer a question of abandoning Windows completely, as you can still run most Windows apps usng a variety of methods.

See you back here on 9/20.

New Mac

You won't be sorry you bought a Mac. I switched from a high end HP workstation to a Mac Pro several weeks ago and I am ecstatically pleased.

I can run all my windows XP apps and learn OS X on the same machine without any sacrifice of power.

You may want to look at X-Plane for the Mac. It is a great flight simulator but the graphics are not as good as MS FSX.

Hmm I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make a thread.

Anyways, I was wondering...I'm getting an iMac soon and would like to know if 500GB HDs tend to fail more frequently than 250GB HDs.

I understand your reasons for dumping Windows. In fact, I need to do my annual re-install of XP as the PC has turned into its usual mess. In the meantime, I'm waiting for the next MacBook Pro update to hit the stores to get my first Mac. My wife has an old bondi blue iMac and a G3, but we've been using XP (2.4 GHz Athalon) PC as our primary computer. The G3 is impractical for video and for zillions of photos. I can hardly wait to make the switch.

It may be a good thing they haven't shipped your MacBook yet. Is it possible they are replacing all of the faulty heatsinks before they ship as it might be cheaper in the long run to do that than get faulty ones back in for repairs 3 months down the road. I'm refering to the RSS issues that a percentage of the Macbooks shipping recently have had.

I miss Anchorage and Alaska:(

I doubt they ship it out Saturday. For your sake I hope I'm wrong.

I got quite a tease when ordering my mac.

I ordered both my Mini and Keyboard at the same time.
I had my keyboard for a week and a half before I got the mac, what a tease!:(

Texas, unfortunately.
If you're an impatient person, ordering online is not for you. (after years of buying things on ebay, and waiting WEEKS for the items to come, I think I'm finally numb)

Although for me, the anticipation of waiting for the item is actually more fun the having the item itself.

"The secret to happiness is always waiting for something in the mail. If you know you're going to get something, but don't know when you're going to get it, it just hightens the experience by all that much."

Can't remember who said that now, and I'm sure I mixed up a few words, but that's my 2 cents.

Congrats on the new Macbook, I got a Black 2.0GHz,80GB,512MB RAM.

My first mac, i love, but dont be suprised if it starts giving you random shut downs, most Macbooks have that problem but all you have to do is take it to the Genius Bar and get them to replace your HEAT SINK, not the logic board for it will do nothing if you change that.
They changed my Heat sink and my macbook has been great for over a month...

Enjoy:)
