I just saved a bunch of money by switching to Android

If you want to save money do what I did and switch to the Tmobile walmart plan. $30 per month prepaid.
From my iphone 4 on ATT with unlimited everything I went from paying $100 per month to $30 with my Galaxy S3.

Actually, I'm curious if anyone on here has family or friends who use a Walmart phone plan. I've gotten that question from relatives and don't know how to answer.
Me and my friend were like is this for real. A whole year and that's the best they could do.

I have sold several of my Android phones quickly and for good money. I had one hell of a time selling my 4s five months ago and got nothing close to what it was worth. Had to take $275 for a 16gb. Why? Because of all the fraud going on with iPhones. People selling bad ESNs and knockoffs have most people not even touching an iPhone for sale on Craigslist or EBay. Plus there are way more iphones sold which means way more available used, that also drives the resale price down.
You'll see how much you saved when you want to sell.
Surely some (if not most) of that "resale value" is poured away month after month to a carrier you are locked into for 12/18/24/36 months?
Taditionally here in the UK, if you bring your own phone you make massive savings on a monthly contract and are not tied in for the 18.24 month terms:
200 minutes
5000 texts
All-you-can-eat data (unlimited)
1 month rolling contract
£12.50 per month.
£300 over 24 months
iPhone 4S:
£29 upfront cost

£725 over 24 months.
That would give you around £425 (685.142 USD) to spend on a handset which the Galaxy Nexus in the U.S falls way below.
The whole thing regarding resale value, yeah, the iPhone has higher resale value, but the math usually isn't that dramatic.
Buying an unlocked iPhone is $649 + tax usually = $730-ish.
You sell for ~$400, give or take? So you lose 300+ bucks.

Buying an unlocked Nexus for $350+tax = $400-ish?
You sell for, what is the value anyway? Even if you only sold it for $100 bucks, you still also lost 300 bucks.

While the iPhone 5 is a fine phone, I'll do just fine without it.
Once I read where the existing Apps we have, will still run at the same size leaving black bars filling in the extra space, suddenly I understand why Apple was trapped & had to keep the narrow width.

that $30/mo prepaid plan started to look tempting until i saw it only included 100 minutes. my minutes used has gone down over the years, but i still think i need a little more than that.
I pay about $40, sometimes $50. Its $30 for 100 minutes, and 10 cents per minute after. So i get either 200 or 300 minutes. More than enough for regular use.
For extended calls I use the Vonage app. when at home or over a good 4g connection. Works great, caller id shows my regular number, and no minutes used.
And for that purpose, I recommend Groove IP. Unlimited minutes as long as you have data or wifi available, along with a Google Voice account. I get my minutes for emergencies and "honey do's", and Groove IP keeps my grandparents happy being able to talk to me all they want.
ah. i always wondered what happened after going over 100 minutes. if t-mobile didn't completely blow in my area, it would be worth considering.
