As the title says I was typing my login on the iPhone's Safari and I did something with my finger and I saw that I selected part of the login name ( highlighted in light blue), I then clicked on the backspace and erased the selection for mistake.
I can't figure out how to do it again, does anybody else had the same experience?

I'm still trying, it happened on the login section of hotmail.com, my iPohne firmware is the last one, I updated it yesterday.

Hmmm... in Safari? Are you sure you didn't just touch a link as you started scrolling a little? That will highlight the text of the link, until you start scrolling.

No it was in the box where you put your login, I had to changed it because I needed to check a different account, and when I went to click right before the @hotmail.com ( the login is your full email now, kind of annoying) I highlighted 4 letters and clicked the backspace.
The fact is that I didn't mean to highlight it, I just did the typical click before the @ so that I can start deleting the login part, but it got highlighted and I automatically clicked backspace without thinking.

You guys should try it, I can't get it again, it pretty much just happened.

When entering text in an area of the iPhone where the iPhone tries to use corrective spelling:

Type this: gog
What you should see is a pop up of iPhone's corrective spelling: "got"

However you should also notice that while the pop up "got" is up the word "gog" is highlighted in blue.

This might be what you saw. This is iPhone's current capability to Highlight text. You just can't copy, paste, cut.

In your situation your login name was probably trying to be corrected by iPhone to a word the iPhone dictionary is familiar with. So you saw part of your login name highlighted in blue.

Mystery solved; case closed; you can make the check out to 'boss1 iPhone forensics expert' :)

Or, potentially, the text entry field on the website itself was remembering the text input, so when you started typing it was auto-populating. Does the iPhone's variant of Safari have that functionality? I can't recall.
