I just made the switch to OSX everyone. My first Apple computer ever. I have no regrets. This is the best computer I ever owned. Here's some unboxing pictures. This is not my set up. :)

Nice.

Instant RAM upgrade too!

Seems like thats the first thing everyone does around here. Max out the ram. haha. Good stuff.

Edit: I just realized you said its not your setup. Nevermind what i said then. :)

Thanks guys.

I have been so busy learning OSX today that I almost forgot to come back here and check on everything. I could post my set up in a few days. I have moved my iMac to my desk.

I had to place it on the dining room table so I could clear out that piece of crap Dell PC.

I really love this new Mac. It's very refreshing and fun to use. I'm just so happy with it.

haha that's exactly what i've just done. I spent all day and night yesterday transferring all my files from my POS dell pc so now all my media is on my shiny new mac. it's love.....

You are so right. For me it's true love. This is my new baby.:)

I'm so against windows that I will not make use of Boot Camp on my iMac. I will not allow that crappy OS, damage my new computer. I do not miss windows one bit. Not even a little. Hell no.

Now I just need to pay someone to take my old Dell computer off my hands.:D

Good decision! And congratulations on your purchase. As for the Dell, you might as well shove Linux on it or something, to turn into a family server.

When I bought my new iMac, I have tried to install windows using bootcamp, I messed up somewhere, and I accidentally took off my OS X installation. Never again will I even try to install that unintuitive operating system on my nice new imac :)

If you have the room keep the Dell. Like the post above said, you can blast windows and throw Linux on it if you'd like, or just keep it around until you find out whether or not you'll have a need for windows again.

I did just that and a year later sold my last windows machine, which was my gaming machine. I didn't have time to game and didn't need windows any longer. I found suitable replacements for all of the little apps I needed/wanted.

Congrats on your new machine.

Welcome to the Brotherhood:D

Enjoy your Mac and cherish the turning point in your tech life!

New Pictures of my Set up.

Gentlemen,

Thank you so much for the great feedback. I am on fire here with the learning. It's so easy. I really do not know why some folks have trouble with it. I just picked up a wireless keyboard and mouse yesterday. Talk about Perfection.

You guys are the best. This is definitely a warm welcome into the Apple family. :)

Here's some updated pictures.

Great setup, very clean and nicely organized! Congrats on coming over to Mac, I'm a new convert myself and will never go back. Good choice on the iMac as well!

HA Ha
I feel the same way about winblows
In fact, that is one of the reasons I got a mac pro. Just so that
CRAPPY windows, would have it's own hard drive. Completely seperat from my OS X. :D

I love windows because its problems keep me employed :D

I remember when I had no desire to switch to another OS...and then Vista came out. I tried linux, I like it, but it seems more of a hobbyist OS and I hated having to compile several programs I wanted to use. I still enjoy it though and have an eeePC that runs it.

Then I got a mac. Omg...then I bought a mac for my family, now I will probably be buying an iMac for me soon, and then in a little bit a mac pro...Im addicted! I only journey back to windows for Visual Studio (sorry I love that IDE) and ZBrush till they get a mac version (which they may have by now, not sure...)

PC's have their place (especially if you keep the nasty off them).

I recently sold my blackbook and have been limping along on a 17" G5 iMac I saved from the landfill (upgraded to 2GB ram and a 400GB hard drive). I am a big virtualization nut and needed something to tide me over until I make my next iMac purchase (hoping to hold off until we see quad-core and 8GB ram capability, but that might be a pipe dream).

An incredible Dell deal at Best Buy caught my eye...2.4Ghz Core2Quad, 6GB ram (upgradeable to 8GB), 640GB hard drive, etc for ~$700. I typically piece together my own PC's...but this was too good to pass up. I now have my virtualization monster (via linux and virtualbox (which is also my virtualization software of choice under OS X)) and my OS X fix with the G5. Currently sharing keyboard/mouse with Synergy between the two...and hope to upgrade the setup to a 24" LCD (for the linux box) and a 24" iMac (when the time is right) to replace the G5.

F*** PC's.

Glad you like PC's. I'll never go back to one ever again.

Everyone else thank you for the great feedback and some comments made me laugh. This was fun talking to you all.

-Alex.:)

Enjoy your purchase. The first month or so when I switched was just fantastic- finding all the new features and neat stuff OS X does is great fun and a real eye opener.

Enjoy the iMac too- I absolutely adore mine.

There are some fun times to come. The next time a PC user asks you what anti-virus you use*, when people look at your iMac and ask where the tower is, realising you've had it running for two weeks straight without having to do a restart because some poxy service has keeled over!

* I know some people use A/V on Macs. But I don't and this is my post so nyerr.
