I have a mac and I love my mac. I am planning to buy a new one in the near future. My bf has a PC, and he wants me buy the game GuildWars with him, so that we can play online. (We are in an LDR right now.) Guildwars isn't made for macs, so I've been telling him that when I get my new computer, I will be able to play it on there as macs can now run windows programs.

I didn't realize that I have to buy more things to do this.

I have heard about Bootcamp where I have to buy Windows Vista for like $200? I have heard about Crossover that is $70 to do PC games on a mac. All I want is to be able to play this one game!
What is the thing that works best (and is the cheapest)? Would it be interesting for me to buy a cheap pc on the side to run this?

What is the recommended cheap way to play PC games on a mac???

Thanks!

You can buy OEM versions of Windows off amazon for example. The cheapest way of using Windows on your Mac is Boot Camp, which is built in. It also runs Windows natively and at full speed, which is often neccessary for games.

For performance in gaming i would use bootcamp to boot windows in the mac

Runs the games so much faster than using a virtualisiation programme

Then again depends how grapicly intense it is really i suppose

If its not that bad. Grab a copy of VMware fusion and run windows xp or vista on it. Recommend XP personally.

And when in the vitualisation select the theme to be windows classic for better performance.

I do recommend Bootcamp overall for gaming.

Hope this helps

The fastest thing is windows xp home edition oem on either amazon, newegg, etc.. The other thing is vmware fusion with an academic discount ($40) but you would still need to buy windows to run it, however you could run windows programs inside of mac os.
