i have sound sticks II, and i want the start up chime to come from them when i start it up. it plays from the internals, is there any way i can change that? my imac used to play the start up chime from the external speakers.

thanks

I have the same issue with my intel mini: start-up chime plays through tiny internal speaker and not my externals (I have JBL Creature IIs), though I'm more curious as to 'why' rather than upset, I rarely hear the start-up chime:)

Strange, my iMac plays the sound through the built in speakers. How did you get it to play through the externals?

Under system preferences > sound there is a sound effects tab with a 'play sound effects and alerts through' option. Mine has line out selected (but it's greyed out so I can't change it...)

Yeah that works but we are just talking about the start up chime.
