I know when the iMac update is going to happen.

It will be about 14 days from this last Saturday. How do I know? Because I finally broke down and got a 2.8 ghz 24" iMac. I didn't want to wait anymore. I also couldn't get myself to plunk down the cash for a Mac Pro considering I would have spent $1600 more, ended up with a smaller screen, a louder computer, a smaller harddrive (320 vs 750), higher monthly energy bills and for 90% of what I do, the iMac will run just as fast.

Now I may be kicking myself in two years for this purchase. But so far after one weekend of use the performance of the iMac is perfectly fine and actually slightly better than I expected. I'm just regretting not doing this 4 months ago. I got nothing out of waiting during that period except maybe a little more polish in the execution of the product by Apple.
 
I say it will happen tomorrow. Why? The iPhone Software Roadmap has been on the homepage for long enough and it is time for something new.

i think the update is coming really soon. my schools just started to discount the current imacs even more than the regular educational prices.
 
I bought my 20" IMac the day they came out, and I won't be sorry about that choice even when newer models are released. I love mine as much today (maybe more) than when I first bought it and I see it as a viable computer for at least two years.

Three weeks ago, I came across a deal on a white 20" c2d imac still in the box. The day I got it, the apple store had refurbed alum's for 9 USD more, plus sales tax. I was so flippin mad, and I considered returning my suddenly 'old, obsolete' imac.

Started googling the difference between the two, and came across this forum, and found that there were valid reasons for keeping my model. Also found info saying that the difference performance wise was negligable unless you were a true power user, which I am not. Got applecare for my imac, and maxed the ram to 3 gigs. Am quite happy with my jay leno imac. It does what I want it to, and well.

If they come out with a vastly new imac with world beating features and performance, I'm confident I can sell my system on ebay or craigslist and recoup most of my investment; macs have fairly high resale value compared to pc's. What I suspect is that it will take two or three refreshes of the line before casual users like me would even notice a difference. There's always going to be newer, faster (and if I weren't talking about Apple, I'd say cheaper) computers coming out. Fortunately, I have a system that I enjoy using today.
 
I know it's only Tuesday...But SO FAR isn't this the first week Apple hasn't released SOMETHING since MacWorld? One week it was just Air and Mac Pro firmware but it was something...

Edit: Oh wait, we got an iPod Shuffle reset utility! Oh Joy!
 
Easter...

OK guys, so probably it won't be today. BUT, since we just had the Easter weekend, maybe they will just delay their 'weekly' release by one day, say till tomorrow!

Just hoping :D.

Then again, they definitely broke their tuesday release routine so they might even NOT put out a release this week. I guess we'll see them when we see them :rolleyes:.
 
If you buy a machine now, then at least when you want to get a new one in a couple of years it will be much much better than your old one.
 
Enjoy your machine and dont worry about updates, as they will ALWAYS be coming out with something better.
