The reason is simple and obvious and definitely true !! ;)

It's because they are (finally!) planning to introducing a built-in TV Tuner on the iMac !! :D

They will need a full re-design of the remote to act as a TV Control which is why they haven't bothered improving the present one ..... mystery solved !! :p

In the meantime, which product out there is the best TV tuner for an iMac ..... Elgato or Miglia or somebody else ??

Crack smoker party of one.....
Really? The remote functions exactly how it should. What more could you do to it unless you actually add other functions (such as DVR) to the Apple TV?

Just go buy a Logitech Harmony remote... Problem solved! (As if there was one...)

And your post is confusing.

If only.. :)

The rest of the World are making their computers in to "Media Centres" plus "convergence" is the mantra of the day/decade, not to mention companies are looking to increase their revenues by eliminating 3rd party accessory suppliers ..... how long will Apple continue to fight against commercial evolution ??

So, you're saying that they want to have one of those big 47 button remotes? You do know that Steve Jobs, multiple times, made fun of those, saying that Apple's remote does all the functions in only 6 buttons, as apposed to 40+.

shutdown button would be a nice addition say u was watching a movie or using frontrow you could power your imac down without moving :)

You know you can just put it to sleep by holding down the play button.

Fast forward and rewind would be nice (instead of just 'next chapter')... although I suppose this could just be a software update on the AppleTV itself.
