Okay, I'm weird. I have a 128GB iPhone 6 without data on it. I use a cheap prepaid SIM because I rarely text or make phone calls. My iTunes library consist of 60GBs of music I didn't actually buy and when I went through it the other day, I deleted more than half because I don't really listen to it. Most of the time I listen to an FM radio station which basically plays the same pop songs every day - and I like it.

So, streaming music. I never gave it a real chance because I didn't have internet on my phone while on the move. That's when I want to listen to songs stored locally and FM radio proved to be unreliable. Spotify's free service doesn't include offline listening and I didn't feel like paying for Premium because my current solution worked fine and was free.

So naturally, when Apple Music launched, I wasn't that interested. I did start the free 3-month trial, but I immediately switched off the auto-renewal.

Today I switched it back on.

I travel more since this year so I wanted a better music solution than the old and illegal one I had before. It didn't feel right to love music, but still pirating it. I was thinking about buying the albums I listen to the most and just building a good music library. I could just sync the songs like I'm used to with my iPods.

But with iCloud Music Library and its ability to add every song available on iTunes, spending that kind of money wasn't necessary anymore. Paying about one album every month is a big step-up from what I do now (paying nothing), but I found Apple Music to be more than just my regular old way of listening to music. Finding new songs and artists via Radio, playlists and the "For You" tab is really interesting. It's also just way more convenient to find music while online (at home, or school) and just download it for offline use right on my phone.

Sure, it has its problems. Most of them solved itself after giving it some time (duplicates, album art mess, errors, etc.), and I'm sure others will too eventually. These kind of problems are exactly what I expected to be part of the streaming experience. Not just from Apple, but in general. It can never be as reliable as syncing downloaded songs from your computer to your phone via a cable, right? Maybe it should be though, it may very well get there someday. iCloud Photos wasn't problem free for me either, but it works fine now - couldn't do without it.

The 3-month trial proved to be the best kind of advertisement in my case. I'm excited to start using it every day, but I hope it will be more reliable then. My first streaming music service, yay!

Like yourself, I'd never thought of using a music streaming service before Apple Music, but thought, hell why not it's a free trial. After a week or so of using it, I realised just how useful it was. I now regularly have something new to listen to everytime I choose to listen to music.

The featured stations and the "FOR YOU" feature I find really useful.

We have three people in my household who use Apple Music, which works out at £5 per person, per month, this is really good value for what we can get with Apple Music. We will be continuing with Apple Music once the free trial is up.

I like the music recommendations and find myself listening to old and new artists I hadn't before. However, I have a huge problem with the iCloud part of the service which remains flaky at best, and suddenly decided to disappear my entire cloud music collection until I rebooted the device and re-logged in to iCloud.

At the moment, I still feel more comfortable with physical CD's or files on my hard drives.

Glad you are enjoying AM and discovering streaming music. I love streaming music. Always bought music, vinyl, 8 tracks, cassettes, CDs, downloads--now I never buy music. Just enjoy the eclectic mix of what I want to listen to at the moment and I am liking AM just fine--and did switch from Spotify. As pointed out above--one addition that would prove a great improvement would be public playlists--something hopefully for the future. I am playing the top songs on alternative now--seems to work as a playlist if you start the first song.

Seems like those Spotify playlists are really loved because I hear everywhere how great it would be if Apple Music had them. Apple could add these things in combination with Connect, could get some people to switch. Or an option to import your current Spotify library and playlists, not sure how that would work though.

Well when doing a search on Spotify you get Playlists results which matches the search with all playlists that are public. I have quite a few on Spotify that other users have found and follow. That's why Apple has to provide a similar feature to be competitive IMO.

In a few days my trial period will end and I am still going to keep my subscription. Having used Apple Music in many daily scenarios (bike, train, car, school, home, online/offline), I can say that it is totally worth it. It really changed the way I listen to music and it just works (Apple cliche much?). Okay, there're some bugs and the interface can be really confusing (still not sure how to get to the Apple Music Festival videos without randomly clicking every AMF related link), but they'll work it out eventually.

I am curious to see the actual numbers from Apple as to how many users it still has after most trials end. Will they ever release them?

I have Spotify. I'm going to try AM for a while and end Spotify. See how it goes. I love Spotify though

I wish playlists were public too.

I was a Spotify Premium user for 3 years and made the switch to AM yesterday. It's easy to switch back since Spotify Free keeps the playlists. It's not that I was blown away by AM or felt that it was better in any particular way, it's more of an experiment. I wanna see where it's going.
I like having everything under the Apple umbrella and whatever it means in terms of integration with iTunes, Siri etc. Having said that, it's a bit buggy and lacking in functionality right now... I get a slight Mobile Me vibe from the whole project.

Stuff I miss from Spotify: The global playback history. The remote/handoff functionality. The speed/responsiveness. Maybe it has to do with server locations - I live in Sweden and Spotify has servers in Stockholm. The lag is negligible, playback starts instantaneously as if the files were local. Apple Music OTOH is slow as molasses. First off my AM music in the iTunes library is greyed out for about 10 seconds after I start iTunes. Second, it will take about 5 seconds before a song starts playing, on both OS X and iOS.

I will give it until "2.0" of AM to add global history, remote/handoff functionality and a major speed boost, or else I'll go back.

I really like most everything about Apple Music except for not being able to side-load my own music onto the iphone. If they'd open that up, it'd be perfect for me.

I just cancelled my Spotify subscription. My main reasons were the suggestions ink "For You" section were unlike what I've ever seen. Siri, Apple Watch integration and soon Apple TV. I liked the Jazz playlists on Spotify such as workday jazz, jazz for sleep, etc. However, they never changed and Apple Music's suggestions will keep me busy exploring albums new and old that I' d never gave much thought to listening to. I' m a Apple guy through and through and it will only get better.

Still love using Apple Music, listening to A Head Full of Dreams for the tenth time right now. Haven't had real issues other than an occasional loss of Up-next songs when switching from offline to Wi-Fi or something like adding an album and having one song labeled as a single.

Just got my iPad Pro two weeks ago and setting it up was easier than ever, wondering if I even need the 128gb version now.

My dad just purchased the Family Plan for himself, my mom and my sisters. We've ripped all of our CDs to iTunes ever since we got an iPod Video in 2006. This library finally gets new life in the cloud which is also way better accessible than before. Our 2007 iMac just lost another purpose which is kind of sad actually. Used to be the central hub where all iPhone and iPods were synchronized, but music photos and calendars moved to the iCloud.

Also the fact that an Android app has now been made available was great news to my sisters who both own an Android phone.

Due to Apple's own shenanigans I was able to use my old credit card to apply for a new AM account trial to fiddle with the Android app. But... it doesn't recognise local files? As in non-AM local files? Or am I missing something? The whole point of AM app for Android for me was that I would finally have a player that could play EVERYTHING I have.

I ditched Apple a music after my 90 days was up and went back to Google Music. I really like Google Music, but the one glaring gap is it's "Listen Now" page, which is intentionally the equivalent to Apple Music's "For You" section.
Google's trouble is its recommendations get really, really centered around stuff you've been listening to lately. And the more you take their advice on what to listen to, the more focused the recommendations become. For example, lately I've getting into instrumental indie music while at work. It helps me be productive and concentrate. I listened to a lot of the bands Moonlit Sailor and Goonies Never Say Die, and my Google recommendations more and more centered around these bands, their albums, and bands that were similar to them.

Apple Music's recommendations are fun, and stay diverse even if you've been binge listening to a specific genre for two weeks straight. As much as I love punk, and indie, I appreciate a good Motley Crue playlist always being there on the For You page. There's always a consistent mix of albums I already love, stuff I like and would like to explore more, and also stuff I'm barely familiar with that I end up liking a lot.

AM has it's quirks and bugs for sure, but it's sort of worth living with them for the way it improves my music listening life as a busy adult with really diverse taste in music.

I'll be sticking with AM for a while again. I also just got my wife on the 90 day trial and she's pretty thrilled with it. I see a Family Plan Subscription in my future!

The one thing I've learned after using Spotify, AM, and Google Music interchangeably over the summer, is they all have something special about them the others are missing. You just gotta pick your poison.
