After waiting 6 weeks to get them and owning them for around a month I lost my AirPods :( Must have fall out my pocket when I got my wallet out. Sadly find my AirPods was not very helpful. Anybody else lost theirs? Fortunately my local Apple Store got stock today so I was able to pick up a new pair - expensive mistake.

Why wasn't Find My AirPods not helpful, out of curiosity?

Damn that sucks. At least they didn't fall out whilst you were wearing them. Also curious to know why find my Airpods didn't work...

Find my AirPods only works when the AirPods are actively connected via bluetooth. Find My AirPods can't locate a lost AirPods Case or work when the AirPods are stored in the case and are disconnected from the iPhone.

It should return the last place they were connected also, though it doesn't sound like that will help op much.

Sorry for your loss.

These things happen & will for many. The Airpods/case fit so stealthily/seamlessly into our everyday lives that it won't take much for a distraction to lead them astray...

I'm trying to think of them as a second phone or wallet, checking my pockets/bags routinely for their presence, though I'm not immune....

I find the case to slippery that they can easily fall out of gym shorts etc. Looking into getting one of those silicon cases for the case in hopes it provides some grip if that makes sense.

Funny that - I on the other hand prefer the slipperyness of it, as the pant pockets I store the case in most days (5th pocket) are too small to fit hands in & the only way to get the case out is to push/slide it from outside the pocket.
