To preface, I’m no hater or troll. I own an iPhone XS Max, iPad Pro 11”, Apple TV 4K, HomePod, and Apple Watch Series 4. Needless to say, I’m fully invested in the Apple ecosystem.

Having said that, I’m a little frustrated at the direction Apple seems to be going as far as nickel-and-diming their customers. As an example, I just bought the newly released Skyline Collection of the Beats Studio 3 Wireless and they include a micro-USB (really?) cable to charge them but no power adapter for the wall. The Beats Studio 2.0 that I bought prior to Apple acquiring them included a branded power adapter, not to mention the microfiber cloth that no longer comes included.

The trend can be seen across product lines. The iPhone has seen its cost increase while accessories like the 3.5mm to lightning adapter get removed and it still ships with a puny 5 watt power adapter included. The iPad Pro has seen its cost increase with price increases for the Apple Pencil and Smart Folio/Keyboard to match. I’m concerned that Tim Cook is squeezing too many pennies out of loyal customers and it will cost Apple in the long run even if metrics improve in the short term.

I love Apple. I continue to immensely enjoy their products and products like the newest iPad Pro renew my faith in their ability to create wonderful products that are truly a joy to use. I hope they put more focus back on delighting customers rather than squeezing every possible penny out of us that they can.

Your thread title is rather ironic, “I love Apple, but why are they so cheap”...But yet we discuss the nature of how expensive their products are..

Anyways, but I understand what you’re saying, Apple has made a lot of adjustments that not everybody agree’s with, like cheapening out the Apple Watch Series 4 packaging from what it used to be, and the Apple Watch charger has a shorter charging cable from what they once offered with a longer cable years back, the lists goes on....

It’s just how they are, and it’s how they will continue to be, they want to ‘maximize profits and reduce costs’, that’s their nature. I don’t generally have any complaints, but I have noticed the incremental changes made.

I will say regarding your comment about the 3.5 Adapter being removed, nothing says Apple had to keep including that on a year-to-year basis, I think they initially offered that after the first year they removed the 3.5 mm Jack for a transition for customers to have the opportunity to use wired headphones, even though Bluetooth is primarily taking over and I question how many customers actually even use the 3.5 mm adapter to begin with.

Wouldn't be too surprised if next year's iPhone does not include earphones. Cost-wise, that should give room to a USB-C fast charger but we all know that's likely not going to happen.

Including accessoires in the box just creates goodwill and I think they already threw that out of the window with the 1000$+ iPhone. Maybe we'll see a change next year, depending how stocks are doing.

That’s my main point, really. I get they’re running a business and removing accessories can help maximize profit, but there’s something to be said for customers feeling good after they spend the kind of money required for a new Apple device rather than feeling resentful about having to go buy even more for the functionality that used to be included.

As to including an AC charger with whatever USB device...I'm in the group with a decent quality USB charging station and would probably throw it in the charger drawer.

As a consumer if you don’t “feel good” after making a purchase from a company then it’s your responsibility to return the product and stop buying them. Speak your mind with your wallet.

Absolutely right. First rule of child-rearing, and much else: never reward bad behaviour.

If you keep buying a product that you find not fully satisfactory, they'll keep selling it to you.

It’s not a new thought that Apple is “cheap.” It has been pointed out that competition offers fast charge and wireless pads with their products. Apple enclosed the minimum 5watt brick.

Well it’s not quite that simple, which I tried to explain. I still love the products and enjoy them more than the alternatives. I just wish they were more generous with what they include.

I also have a box with wired headphones and too weak chargers etc. that I never use.
I bet there's a lot of regular Apple buyers that have those accessories boxes where they save all multiple stuff they don't have use for.
Would be better to not include anything, and let us buy the stuff we really need to our devices as we like.

If I'm hearing you connectly, you annoned that Apple doesn't include *everything" Its like you buy and Apple TV an dthey lack the one thing you actually need to hook it up. An HDMI cable, and they inply everyone has those otherwise theywould have included one..

Its just a better reason to get you back to the store..

Kinda clever, but annoying all at the same time. Yes,,, how dare Apple come to the conclusion "we assume you have so something we never asked" It's a pain i need to make sure i got all of the cables i need from other places (because i don't wanna pay Apple's prices sometimes), just so i can get something..

And while i'm at it, i'll buy the product at this other place too... Net effect, is by NOT offering cables, Apple is actually loosing customers, not thinking they'll get people back. Because when they read what's included, they most likely wont get it, unless you are physically in the store anyway.
