To preface, I’m no hater or troll. I own an iPhone XS Max, iPad Pro 11”, Apple TV 4K, HomePod, and Apple Watch Series 4. Needless to say, I’m fully invested in the Apple ecosystem.
Having said that, I’m a little frustrated at the direction Apple seems to be going as far as nickel-and-diming their customers. As an example, I just bought the newly released Skyline Collection of the Beats Studio 3 Wireless and they include a micro-USB (really?) cable to charge them but no power adapter for the wall. The Beats Studio 2.0 that I bought prior to Apple acquiring them included a branded power adapter, not to mention the microfiber cloth that no longer comes included.
The trend can be seen across product lines. The iPhone has seen its cost increase while accessories like the 3.5mm to lightning adapter get removed and it still ships with a puny 5 watt power adapter included. The iPad Pro has seen its cost increase with price increases for the Apple Pencil and Smart Folio/Keyboard to match. I’m concerned that Tim Cook is squeezing too many pennies out of loyal customers and it will cost Apple in the long run even if metrics improve in the short term.
I love Apple. I continue to immensely enjoy their products and products like the newest iPad Pro renew my faith in their ability to create wonderful products that are truly a joy to use. I hope they put more focus back on delighting customers rather than squeezing every possible penny out of us that they can.
