I Love my new Mac-Mini + DVI monitor

I love my new mac-Mini refurb and new Samsung DVI 21.5 monitor. My MacGeek score went from 341 on my 2001 466 mhz G4 Digital Audio model to 3044 on the new 2010 2.26 base Mac-Mini

Startup is unreal fast... Applications move so much faster as it should be! *Hard to believe that this little box is 10 times the CPU speed and 6 times the hard drive @ 25% of the price in 2000. New wired Apple keyboard has amazing feel also.

Your old machine was only 9 years old. I would hope the new Mini would be faster!

I've been setting up my new 2.26 Mini the past couple of days. I'm really surprised how much faster it is compared to my old 1.83 CD Mini. Stuff doesn't bounce in the dock any more. I kind of wish I had tested it before upgrading the RAM and hard drive to see how much difference those make.

And a second $5 adapter from 1/8" headphone jack to RCA audio gives you the sound. Not as good as a 1-cable solution, but it formed the basis of my HTPC until I gave my old mini to my mom and got an Apple TV (not as good as the mini, but much cheaper). I just hid the cables behind the set and nobody knew if there was one cable connecting them or two.

With the MacBook dropping FireWire (again) and the mini going to FW-800 like the MBP, it now sits between the two. Integrated graphics only like the MB and 13" MBP, but no dedicated graphics card like in the upper end MBP. I'm pretty happy with the mini's capabilities.

yes but the mini imo if you have all the supporting accessories is way better than a macbook pro and has way more capabilities with the the ability to output to two monitors, 5 usb ports, and HTPC potential

If you get a new Mac, you could always keep your Mac Mini and use it as a HTPC. That's what I plan to do in the future.

Same here, it will fit nicely. I wondered and wondered what to do with the old iMac G5 my mini replaced. Couldnt think of anything so it's in a box under the bed in my spare room

Awesome and Congrats. I've been doing a lot of reading on the mini as of late. People seem to love these things. And, they seem to be very durable with a useful life of many years.

I'd really been wanting/planning to get a 27" iMac - but after reading about the screen concerns, I decided to just pick up a new 23.5" monitor for my aging PC- to hold me over for a while longer.

It turns out that the monitor I got (Samsung P2350) has a button that enables you to switch between the VGA and DVI input real time. I had no idea it did this as it's not reflected anywhere in the manual- nor was it anything I was specifically looking for.

I started thinking.... Why not save some cash and get a Mini, wireless keyboard and magic mouse. I'm planning to hit the Apple Store next week and pick things up. This will be my first Mac so I'm pretty excited.

You'll love the Mini. I certainly love mine. One of the things I like about it is that I'm not tied to the built in display of the iMac. I also love the form factor. I have several machines around my desk, and it doesn't take up much room at all.

My Dell monitor also has the ability to switch between inputs. I have both my gaming Windows PC and my Mini connected to it, and switch between the two as needed. It's not as good as a true KVM, since I need two keyboards and mice, but it works.
