And no, I didn’t label my work as home or whatever. I restarted the phone and it did it right afterward. Here’s open iOS 13 improves heaving on Siri. Anyone else have any funny #SiriFails lately?

So I have been getting “Father’s Day is on Sunday September 1st, 2019.” I just realized though that I had Siri’s voice set to Australian to avoid Visual Voicemail transcription, and that’s when Father’s Day is over there. Whoops.
Fathers Day in Australia IS Sept. 01 lol

I was trying to dictate a text that said "that photo is horrendous". I tried multiple times and Siri kept insisting on putting "her Renda's" instead of horrendous.

No clue why, but some days Siri is the dream assistant and she'll understand everything perfectly, and days later she's can't understand a thing I'm asking... Really mixed feelings for her...

I love Siri and have no issues whatsoever with her understanding what I say, despite my foreign accent. Frankly, I'm quite amazed at how well her voice recognition works.
I do, however, find it a bit limited as far as her abilities are concerned. The voice recognition may be great, but Siri's ability to turn my words into commands she understands and to act on them is quite limited.

I rarely use it as I find for my uses that Alexa works much better and supports all of the smart devices in my house (something I can't say for Siri).

I hope that too! I can say complicated sentences and Siri understand all.
Then if I ask to "Call Mark"
3 times over 4 the answer is: “Who's Mark?” “What do you want to know about Mark?”..
I even have a shortcut about calling him and don't have any other Mark among my contacts.
Maybe Siri is a real person and time to time likes to tease me or is playing games and is distracted and not listening....LOL!;)

Siri should use a setting other than its selected voice/accent to determine its home region. In fact there are specific settings in Settings (General → Language and Region) for exactly that! Chalk this up to yet another Siri shortcoming. Many people like to use voices other than what’s available for their home country.

I’m Australian and while none of the Siri voices are bad I do prefer the Male Australian voice.

Don’t forget you can download higher quality quality versions of the Siri voices on iOS (as you can on macOS) via Settings → Accessibility → Speech → Voices → English (for example) and then clicking download for any Siri (or other) voice you want in higher quality. Note that the Siri voices are typically around 500 MB each in full quality.

right, i had no idea the voice choice had anything to do with region.
i used the female Australia voice too
Siri is getting an upgrade for iOS13

Every year they spend less and less time talking about Siri at WWDC.

What is there to talk about?

The server side applications are changed/improved so often, there really has to be some sort of major leap forward before they will really announce anything.

The fact that Siri is able to move to 100% artificial voice yet sound more natural thanks to some sort of upgrade is a big deal...so they announced it.

The “smart” part of Siri is constantly being improved (so they say) and they announced that last year (I think??)

The guy they stole from Google hasn’t been there long enough to do much more, but I’m sure there will be some sort of “natural learning” announcement in the next 12 months along with another announcement about all the other facts it now has on hand to access in its data base. There isn’t much more TO announce when it comes to Siri.
