I was really impressed by the nano-texture display because it gives the Apple Pencil a more “paper-like” feel. However, when I saw the price (since this display option is only available with at least 1 TB of SSD storage), I decided to be more budget-conscious. I opted for the regular display with the storage I actually needed, saving a significant amount, especially considering that the iPad is just a supplementary device for me, not my main one.

Now, though, I’m second-guessing that choice. I’m looking into getting the new 2024 Kindle Scribe or the Remarkable Pro for note-taking, as both offer that “paper-like” experience too.

How does the writing experience on the nano-texture display of the iPad compare to that of the 2024 Kindle Scribe and Remarkable Pro? I’m hoping their feel is similar to the nano-texture display on the iPad.

Why don’t you just try out how far you get with what you have? I’ve written hundreds of pages with Apple Pencil before considering my remarkable. Outside of a nice writing feeling it is slow as molasses. I believe it was yourself criticizing the iPad mini just recently on being slow and draggy. The remarkable will feel like you’re standing still it’s so slow. The iPad Pro base models without the xtra cash grab seem really nice devices from what I’ve seen. I’m very certainly not investing any more into the ridiculous remarkable ecosystem at this point but curious what your experience will be.

Try a matte glass screen protector. It may not be the same feel as the nano texture (I’ve never written on one) but it’s not as slippery as the regular naked glass. It also reduces glare and fingerprints.

Nano texture glass significantly reduces the contrast of the screen. I don’t think it’s good to have that tandem OLED display and then negate its awesomeness with a nano texture screen.

There are a lot of “paper like” screen protectors that can do what you want, you may try those I think.

My take, the Kindle Scribe is good for note taking, the Remarkable Pro even better, great paper like feel… but… those products are not cheap and if you already have a decent high end iPad Pro, I really would try using that first using the advice from others here.

Personally I rate the Remarkable, but then Pro starts from around 500, plus the decent pen plus a case. You really need one to justify the price.
