I dont know.
Ok guys, i just want to tell you my point of view and share my story.
On january i bought my first iphone (iphone 5), before that i had an htc and a bb. I have ipad, ipods, macs. A month ago i bought a galaxy s4 and sold the iphone 5. It was nice the first day, but now i freaking miss the iPhone.

Personal observations:
1- the screen its nice. apple should go bigger!! IMO
2- the design....oh dear god. The back of the phone is hideous. The feel of the phone however is not that bad, but is not top notch as the iphone/htc one.
3- as the build quality is not good enough, if you apply a bit of pressure on both sides, the phone start to make noises. Also the rempvable back cover is atrocious. Piece of cr@ap.
4- the camera for my surprise is worst than the iphone's. But hey, people think more megapixels, more quality, and thats what samsung sells.
5- all the stupid software features. Omg, i have use non of the gimmicky features. Not even NFC. Its really useless in real world usage, is meant to impress the press i suppose.

finally touchwiz... Oh dear god, i want to cut muself. Android is good, it has nice features, but i use no widgets. Just rows of icons, for me is better. But samsung bloatware is irritaring, it also cause the phone to lag. Stutter everywhere, minimal but its there. Android feels more like a mess, is like everything flying around.

So i will be returning to the iphone 5s in january again. Never again a samsung phone. If ever, a nexus with better design (nexus 4 is nice) and vanilla android.

S4 is for those who easily fall for samsung's shady and deceptive marketing.
Those who truly want to experience android should go with the hTC one or nexus devices.

but either way, welcome back :D

Couldn't agree more about the HTC One. I tell all my friends who are going to S4's to get the HTC One instead.

Could you guys elaborate on why the HTC One is the better choice?
I'm also debating between the S4 and HTC One.

OK, a couple things:

Most users out there have a case on ANY phone they're using. This takes care of design issues for better or worse.

The camera on the S4 is VERY GOOD. That being said, its a camera phone, so in the scheme of things it still isn't that great. I was never happy with the cameras on any of my iPhones.

Finally....for any software issues, you ought to visit xda and read up on unlocking your bootladet and installing custom ROMs. The Google Edition ROMS are a good place to start. They leave out all the manufacturers bloat, and this will speed up even the fastest phones.

Could you guys elaborate on why the HTC One is the better choice?

I like my HTC One, but the camera sucks. The S4 is a great phone too, but it isn't made out of "premium materials" and some folks really care about that. Anyway, there are plenty of threads discussing which phone is better than the other, you ought to go check them out.

In what way is the S4 better than the One?

Camera: S4's camera performs poorly under low light compared to the One

System: hTC one doesnt come with 8GB of bloat pre-installed, doesnt use that
disgusting touchwiz UI.

Performance: HTC one runs smoother than S4 in almost every task I performed

Build Quality: aluminum vs sticky plastic that spontaneously cracks.

Need I say more?

Oh, and to address the bolded part:

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013...created-astroturf-smear-campaign-against-htc/

http://www.idownloadblog.com/2013/07/30/samsung-caught-cheating-s4/

It's not too hard to see that samsung is nothing more than an unethical photocopier.

your twisting my words around to fit your agenda. I never said the S4 was better than the One. I said the S4 was the best smartphone i have ever owned. I also said that without the need to put down any other phone.
Dude do you not get marketing and advertising? the whole idea is to make your product look good and the competition look bad. Like Apple's great AD campaign "Im a Mac and Im a PC" Great stuff! Or how about the Nokia commercials that make fun of the whole Samsung and Apple feud? those are hilarious! You obviously hate Samsung......good for you.......

As an owner to a HTC One, and I really do think it's a great device, I'm going to point out that the camera really sucks in pretty much any situation besides low light.

there's a difference between typical marketing vs hiring students to write fake reviews about your own product and trash others' on forums. Did you even read the links I posted? Probably not, because you are in a rush to defend your cute little sammy.

It's awesome to see Samsung get the same hate as Apple. That means they are doing things right. :D

The S4 wins for me. Better specs (higher CPU clocks), better ROMs/Kernels, nicer screen, better battery life, replaceable battery, expandable storage, etc. I removed Touchpiss the day I got the phone and so should you.

Sorry but for you epic fail! Your hate for Samsung is clouding your judgement. As so many other are pointing out here in this thread you are wrong.....fail.
So why are you not attacking all the others that are saying how much they like their S4?
Your anti Samsung agenda speaks for itself.....now we all know not to take anything you say seriously.

I completely agree with this. I guess that the quality of the camera is praised for a phone, but it really leaves a lot to be desired. The same goes for recording HD videos. The audio isn't very good and while detail is nice pretty good, it's not something you would really want to use to record anything more than a quick clip, not an actual family video.

The biggest issue is just how thin these companies continue to make their phones. If they decided to make bulkier phones, picture and video could improve with better sensors.

As for the Galaxy S4, I'm very happy with it. Surprisingly, I'm perfectly fine with touchwiz, I really haven't had any problems with it. But if at some point I did have an issue with it, I can use a different launcher or flash the GE and be done with it. All things considered between the cam, battery life, display, removable battery, micro sd card, screen resolution and all the specs it has, I thought it was the best phone to spend $620 on.

I've had both (HTC one first, now GS4) - I like them both. Each has different strengths. Believe it or not (I know I was a bit surprised) I actually prefer the design of the GS4. And there's no competition between cameras - the GS4's is far and away better.

But Sense 5 >>>>>>>> TouchWiz. And those BoomSound speakers were pure magic.

I just wanted to try something different and get a new perspective. Could very well go back to the One at some point or some other HTC device in the future (provided they are still around :()

Most consumers don't need a DSLR in their phones.....I actually like the fact that devices are getting slimmer (as long as they still provide me a full day of battery life - which every phone I've had this year has).

If you are a pro photog or want to take big professional pics, get a REAL camera.

For the 99% of us who take general "life" pics, the GS4 (And iPhone 5 as well) work PLENTY well and offer some great quality.

Just hop on over to the GS4 photos thread. Some great unedited shots on there.

I agree with you, which is part of the point I was trying to put across. They may be great for phones, but based on different reviews, I guess I expected more. But I have those expectations in check now lol. And yes, these are cameras that are mainly used to take some nice quick pictures, not something you aren't going to use for a professional event. It isn't practical carrying around DSLR cam for something that may spontaneously happen. The phone cams are perfectly fine for that. Considering that, saying which phone cam is superior doesn't amount to a whole lot when they all have their flaws. Most smart phone came should take good decent pics, just that each one will have a different weakness.

As for the slimness, I guess that's a personal choice. I just can't get use to how slim these phones are, which is why I always buy a cover to add some bulk. It just feels like I'm not holding anything lol. For the second battery for my Galaxy S4, I bought an Anker 5200 mAH battery. It is bulkier, but it feels better to hold, for me at least. I still mainly use the stock galaxy battery though because the honeycomb protective cover of the Anker battery is not my favorite. But I occasionally use it when I know I will heavily use my phone on a given day.

But the trend is to make these phones slimmer. I don't think that will ever change lol.

I recently replaced my iPhone 5 with an S4 and my iPad mini with a Note 8.0.

Lag on the S4 is negligible. Honestly no worse than the iPhone 5. Granted I don't have a trillion active widgets on my home screens, but I do have a few. No complaints.

Battery life is maybe 15% worse than the iPhone 5, but the screen is 25% bigger, so fair trade in my opinion.

I have no complaints with regard to the S4's implementation of TouchWiz. The launcher works fine and the calendar and dialer are way better than iOS's especially the mess that is iOS 7 - and I'm a registered developer so I've had iOS 7 beta for some time now).

And I've got a total of 96GB of storage in my phone (32GB internal plus a 64GB SD card). Can't do that on an HTC One.

The S4 is wonderfully light and thin - thus doesn't get heavy and bulky once you put a case on it.

Plus, I love the S-pen on my Note 8.0, though that certainly has nothing directly to do with the S4.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I personally don't see any more lag on the S4 than I do on any other Android implementation. And it's warp factor 10 faster than my Moto Razr HD was.

I literally have to leave my iPhone home and boxed and force myself to use my S4. If they are both on my desk, I find myself reaching for the iPhone 5 first.

So yeah, I miss my iPhone, but I am going to stick to the S4 and give it a fair chance to wow me.

Let's just that 80% of what people brag about with android don't translate to anything special in actual use.

If you have used it more than a few days and still dont like it more you should go back. There is nothing you are not getting or anything, you probably just prefer the iphone and nothing wrong with that

One phone or one OEM shouldn't represent all of your Android.

I've used HTC Androids and never had to worry about build quality. Both are metal unibody.

I sold my iPhone 4 last week and I thought I would miss it alot. Not really. My wife still has her's and only time I would play with it is because of Plants vs Zombies 2. Most of the things I can do with iOS that I needed, I can do with Android.

You think you miss it, but trust me you'll get bored again.

Speaking as an S4 user who went back to iPhone (network issues, not phone)...now looking for another Android phone...

My only beef with the S4 as a device is the plastic back. Not because it creaked (honestly the build itself is quite solid), but because it was impossible to keep clean.
