the only thing I miss from windows 7/10 is the image importer feature. I put a memory stick in, and windows automatically downloads the images into the computers into a folder with the date. I loved that. I just clicked a button. How do I get my Mac to do the same thing? I tried to figure it out and failed. Thank you.

When you feel comfortable enough with macOS, you should also take a look at Automator in your Applications folder. It's obscenely simple to use and extremely powerful.

For example; in that same scenario, not only could you then build an Automator workflow that automatically takes all those images, renames them something in particular, resizes, rotates and scales the images, saves them in a different file format and saves a copy of them in a different folder, then uploads them to a server and sends a specified person an email to let them know the images are there.

All of that can be done automatically as soon as the images download—or you could set that workflow to only happen when you drag the folder of images on top of an icon.

Automator is so cool once you start playing with it.
