Alright, I'm setting up a fairly light-duty website and need a very very cheap host that allows Paypal and (peferably) doesn't have lame annual fees for domains. Any suggestions?
I like SiteGround. $5 a month, so not quite dirt cheap, but close enough. The features are outstanding though, and almost full access to your entire account to set up whatever you want. I run several websites on one hosting package (I just put up with the same domain name for them, but you can add more).
PM "Itasor" here on MR. I pay $2.50/month 150 (I think??) Mb space and 2.5Gb Bandwidth. I pay through PayPal each month. Fast server, hardly ever goes down.
Never buy or use the "free" domain from hosting companies. Sometimes if you want to transfer to another company they keep the domain.
GoDaddy is the best place to buy domains. If you use "MUGGLE" at the checkout you get 10% off, or "RON" you get .COM domains at $7.20.
I use Pronethosting.net, they are $1.55 monthly. They have a good uptime, not 100% but good enough. Unlimited emails & add-on domains (so you can have more than one site).
Everyone has a different definition of cheap so it is hard to offer a recommendation based on this - I personally wouldn't recommend choosing a host based on the price of their plans anyway.
However, check out TJR Networks. The plans are reasonably priced and very reliable.

If you pay "the lame annual fee" for the domain name, that means it's yours. If you don't you have little or no control over it. Pay the 8 bucks or whatever, it's worth it.
