i desperately need:

a program that will cut an mpeg2 file down (just reduce the amount of footage inside of it)- exactly like the program mpgtx. However that program is buggy and incorrectly displays the length of the video clip.

I can't get anything to work with Quicktime Pro or Gumby either.

Thanks.

(for those interested, its for reducing the chapter long mpeg2 files that i imported using osex. Final cut Pro and Final cut Express can't handle 100 chapter long mpeg2 files. They both crash and say there's an error in the mpeg2 component. Yes, even on a DP 1.8 G5.)

Check out this rather lengthy set of instructions from MacOSXhints. I have successfully used this process, minus the masks, a few times.

Thank you. Ya, it is quite lengthy...and overwhelming.

By any chance, do you have those original files from the archive listed on the page ? "Process MPeg2 Files.sit" The link listed to the mac homepage no longer has the file as far as i can tell...

If you do, could you send it to me? nicespeedotan@spymac.com

Thank you very much either way. :)

I'll check my computer when I get home from work today. There is a good chance I do not have them, as I was pretty much only using the Applescipt in QT to do the cutting.

FfmpegX (GUI version of Ffmpeg) can be found by searching VersionTracker MacUpdate. Ffmpeg (open source) will do the job, if you don't mind command line utilities.
