My iPhone SE and it’s single camera just isn’t cutting it anymore. I WANT an iPhone with a triple camera setup.

Would an iPhone 12 Pro Max be worth spending $700 on and keep me satisfied for a few years, or should I pony up the extra $400 and go with the 14 Max Pro?

Between those two iPhones, for sure the 14 Pro Max. It will get more updates. It's got the better camera system, battery life, ProMotion, better cellular modem, overall screen quality and brightness, it's worth the extra money if you are considering it.

Thanks. I want good quality photos, especially in low light situations which the SE is TERRIBLE at.

I would also look into testing the 14 Pro as well as the 14 Pro Max in the store, as they have the same camera system, and from an SE it will be a much smaller leap in size. Lighter, and easier to manage for one handed use.

Definite difference in the battery of course, but it depends on whether you want a phablet size iPhone or not too. The 14 Pro Max will be better for media consumption, and it's an awesome iPhone. I own both of these, and find myself gravitating toward the 14 Pro, as it's much easier to use with one hand but YMMV.

I found the 14 Pro Max to be very awkward to use because I have rather small hands. I tried the 14 Pro Max at the cell company store and then I tried the 14 Pro. Sure the cameras are all the same and battery is smaller in the 14 Pro but that is never a issue for me as I am retired and have charger cables in my shop and several spots throughout my home and vehicles.

I highly recommend that you do a "test drive" at any of the places that sell iPhones then decide. If you do get any of the 14 Pro models do not get the base storage option but bump up to at least the 256 GB models. I got my 14 Pro with 256 GB but really if you plan on taking lots of pictures I actually say the 512 GB would be better.

So in closing have fun and enjoy the shopping the various different sizes of the Pro models.
