I got my brand new iMac today and went out and bought a copy of Vista x64, but I have no idea what I am doing!

So far I have managed to install Vista, but I am having great difficulty installing the Drivers in the Boot Camp folder. I get an error message saying:

"Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model."

Nothing seems to work... The resolution is very low, I can't connect to the internet, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, you can install what you want. The Boot Camp drivers require 32-bit Windows if you're on a Mac that doesn't have 64-bit drivers, such as the iMac.

You'll just need to scrounge the Internet for the proper drivers.

Cheers guys, I finally got things up and running.

One question though... is it normal that when booting to the Windows partition I get a black screen with white text giving a few error messages with regards to 'unrecognised partitions', etc. But then it just continues as normal an loads Windows.

I had the same problem. Then I used this! Okay, I haven't used it yet, but that's what the thread was about, and I posted in it because I have that problem.

Shouldn't the BootCamp Update 2.1 from a few weeks ago deliver Vista 64bit drivers?

I'm talking about this update:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/bootcampupdate21forwindowsvista64.html

If not, where can I find those drivers for Vista x64 that you have to get for an iMac?

I installed Vista 64 with the previous version of BC and to my knowledge the 64 bit drivers are on the OSX install disk that came with my MP. I don't believe that the drivers are in BC at all which is why the instructions tell you to insert the OSX disk after you get Windows up and running. Perhaps the OSX disk for the iMac doesn't have the drivers. Can all of the Apple computers run 64 bit apps?

I have a little problem while installing Vista Ultimate x64 on my iMac.
I have installed the OS, through Boot Camp without any problems, until I inserted the Mac OS X DVD. As we know the DVD is a little bit obsolete, but I managed to install some drivers, not all. After I downloaded the BC 2.1 update manually through apple.com. The thing is, I cannot even run this update in Vista. Does anyone has the same problem? Is it because I have installed the Ultimate version instead of the Business? Thanks for responding.
