I need help making a sticker.

I am trying to make a vinyl sticker out of this picture for my girlfriend to put onto her macbook. Im not really sure how to go about doing it.

I want it to look how it looks now on the macbook. With the hello kitty holding the apple.

I would appreciate it if someone could do it in photoshop for me, I know it wouldnt take long.

I will paypal someone $10 if they could do it for me.

Dude, there are copyright issues here.

But why do you need anybody's help? Just print what you have on Avery label stock (any stationery store carries it) and "boom" you have a sticker.

I mean i would buy it but they don't have any that look like this, and its just for personal use.


but if i printed it just like this wouldn't it just cover up the apple ?

The cat is clear.

But the paws are clearly not.

Obviously you cant do this the way you envision.

You are assuming that the see through nature of the cat brings out the laptop's metal color as its skin tone. But when you apply this logic to something that is covering whats underneath (the apple), physics just wont allow for something transparent to cover up something below.

You need to pick a color for the hands that closely matches the metal or try something else.

I'm going to disagree here. There are clear Avery labels that can be printed with an inkjet or color laser printer. The black outline of the copyright infringed Hello Kitty will print fine.

The gray background can be easily selected and deleted so it shows the Macbook through the clear label. (OP, if you don't already have Photoshop, you can download a 30 day trial and use that)

The problem is the white apple. You can not print white through a color laser or inkjet printer. It's the apple that will have to be given a color in order for this to display correctly.

the paws, nose, and bow should all have a fill color; the rest of the cat should not be filled at all; just the black outline.
It will work fine that way on transparent sticker stock.

You could also take the artwork to a sign shop and have it cut from self-adhesive vinyl.
That'll probably cost at least $40 with four colors, but it would be a lot nicer looking than the sticker stock.

I did say the kitty is clear, but the paws are not.

The hands cant be clear, the apple would show thru.

Printing just the black outline, yellow nose and red bow would be what they are trying to accomplish. But then the apple would show thru the hands.

Obviously they want the color of the laptop to be the color of the kitty. But with part of the sticker obscuring the apple below, that would be impossible. So choosing a solid color for the paws is the only way to accomplish this.

The "grey background" isnt a background, its showing you a clear sticker with the metal below.

Cute idea. As it involves the supeewia ta hoominz kittehs, I must halp!

I used to do a lot of DTP, prepress, and PS -- but, I think this could actually be made more fun than complicated:


"Ultimate" Solution (where gf buys you expensive sushi, etc. ;-):

- Separate this into four elements: "Head"; Bow; Nose; Paws
- Vinyl cut Head (outline, eyes, whiskers). Might be easier to do whiskers individually.
- Vinyl cut Bow: 2-color; 1 "big" blk. piece; 5 individual red pieces.
- Same with Nose.
- Paws: 2 blk. "kidney beans" with color-matched grey/silver inserts.

You now assemble everything like the old "Colorforms" (dating myself) -- should be obvious.

This would look awesome. In fact, the stacked layers should give the Bow a slight "3D" realism, esp. if you don't cheat and use more blk. layers. Also, by carefully choosing a slightly different shade of grey/silver (whatever works), that would probably give the Paws "depth" too.


"Easy" Solution (where gf buys you expensive sushi, etc. ;-) ;-):

- Do the clear label thing, just fill in the Paws. Again, it might work better with a color that you might think "wrong", and the lit up Apple logo might leak through (which might work), so experiment if you can.
- As it will be all shiny, or obvious: probably best to print it out LARGE (big circle?), maybe even all the way to the edge of the lid to make it look more like a protective cover.


In both cases, sizing will also be important as the Nose is pretty close, though "Ultimate" will give you some wiggle room/customizability.

Oooo yeah, this will cost more than $10 :-( Make sure you show us the results either way though!
